So I decided, on a whim, to read the Cell Arc and I'm liking it quite a bit (sorry Tobias). Is it just me, or is the pace way faster than in the anime? In particular, I remember the Cell Juniors sticking around for several episodes, but in the manga they're dealt with in two chapters.

The anime is littered with padding and filler. Nothing else is new.

They don't hang around for too long in Kai. Don't remember the exact number of episodes, though.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!

[up][up]This is why I prefer to read the original manga over watching the anime based off of them; you don't have to deal with meaningless filler that doesn't really add anything of importance.

I will say 19 and 20 kinda sucked, though. They were generic evil robots with generic evil robot motives like stealing "energy." I can see why Toriyama replaced them; all their replacements were far more compelling. Well, maybe not 17.

They also literally sucked.

One of the main reasons why people thought Kai would be good going in was that it was going to remove one of DBZ's major problems.

Meaning, all the padding.

I liked some of the filler... Am I like one of the only people that liked it? Seems to me everyone's always hating on it.

Anyone who doesn't like the driving episode should be hanged in a trench and shot. Along with their wizard friends. And anyone who ever sold them pierogi.

[up]pirogis are fucking delicious! Anyone who sells them should be thanked for adding taste to your other wise crappy meals! Unless they're the crappy store brand ones you can find in the freezer section of grocery stores. Those are horrible!

I agree with the rest of your post, though I feel like you're not going far enough. For example one could put a small tube into the sleeping mouth of the driving haters and put something like termites into said tube. Upon reaching the insides of the hater the termites would chew their way out thus painfully killing those that hate the episode. It's just an example, I could think of something much worse.

Am I taking this to far? I worry I might be going to far with the termite thing.

Padding =/= Filler. They go hand in hand, but they're not the same thing.

Dragon Ball has a lot of padding, which is the extended reaction shots and all those shots were nothing is happening, as well as the 5 minute long transformations and all the time the characters spend just screaming at each other.

Filler, meanwhile, is material made up for the sole purpose of wasting time, so the Manga can get a little further ahead. 'Cause catching up to it is bad.

[up][up]It was a reference.

[up] Dragon Ball padding is awful.

Dragon Ball filler is great.

...Usually. Sometimes.

I genuinely loved driving cars and the Great Saiyaman stuff.

[up][up] And now I feel like an idiot. I really should've known the difference. Is it to late to go back and change my previous statement?

[up] What was? The pirogi thing? I would've watched the linked video but it was epic rap battles of history so I just said 'Nope!'

I also want to say I do like Krillin's development in the Cell Saga. People give him guff for thinking with his dick but honestly? The fact that 18 was cute seemed to be only part of his problem with killing her. The other part was that she... hadn't really done anything yet. Her worst deeds were carjacking and shoplifting. It's the old "do you kill someone who might become a threat" dilemma, and Krillin's far from the only one, in reality or fiction, to have it.

Yes. Stalin VS Rasputin.

"Look into my eyes you perverted witch, see the soul of the man who made Mother Russia his bitch. You think I give a fuck about my wife? My own son got locked up in prison, and I didn't save his life. You got off easy when they pickled that moose cock!" and then the quoted line.

[up]Ah, the Prisoner's dilemma.

How many parties has it destroyed?

This is why you keep around an Evil or Neutral character at all times.

One of the worst is called "society".

Because the alternative is ignorance, is not knowing how to do anything to respond.

It's a four minute video.

Eh.

I'm not sure I'd go that far.

...I mean, I do like the Stalin and Rasputin one, the Doctor Who one, and the Tesla one. And that's about it.

Either way. I'm rarely categorically unwilling to watch things.

With some exceptions.

The dragon ball one I really didn't like, actually.

[up][up][up] I personally don't watch it because I just can't stand rap at all. Though I have heard the ERB is like different from other rap. I like ER Bs costumes, must take a lot of work to make some of 'em.

The Dragon Ball one was bad, yeah. Mostly because... well, Goku was basically little more than the hatedom's perception of Dragon Ball.

And his eyes were the wrong color, too.

[up]That's fair enough. Truth be told, I can't really stand much rap, either.

As for their cred as rapers... well, they have Snoop Dogg's approval, at least. He played Moses.

Freudian Slip?

Anyway, I can definitely empathize with Krillin, as all the evil stars kinda lined up to prevent him from doing the deed. She's cute, she flirted with him, which both accentuated her cuteness and made him see her more as a person, and she's far from the world-destroying monstrosity Trunks made her out to be. And Krillin's just too nice in general to be used as an assassin, really.

I could only believe Kuririn had altruistic motives if he was ever shown giving a shit about 17. 100% dickthinker.

Anyway I liked 19 and 20's energy absorption power. I just find it a shame that energy suppression could beat it.
