So.
Is it just me, or is the only reason Frieza's so strong that Toriyama realized he made Kaioken a multiplier earlier and Goku would handle him too easily?
And the only reason Super Saiyan is also a multiplier because he thought Kaioken was boring or?
...Like.
I dunno. I feel from a storywriting, Doylist perspective.
Something.
I had a thought and lost it.
I want to imagine that Vegeta definitely does this to Oolong sometimes.
Just because he can.
I think this
and this
are probably pretty close to what you guys seem to think Vegeta's "actual" personality is like.
For there being multiple super modes, well red is supposed to be a heroic color in Japan and I think they also have a myth about a golden warrior or something. So maybe he was trying to cash in both for the series' super modes?
As for them both being multipliers, well when you get down to it all power ups can be considered a "multiplier" in some form or another. Admitting how much is at least coller than just saying "They make you stronger."

#IceBearForPresidentSo I was bored and made this. It's nothing good but I figured I might as well post it.

This should be a thing in Xenoverse.

I find it unlikely. For starters, Kaio-ken wasn't very powerful in the Saiyan arc since Goku damaged himself going to 3x. It wouldn't have caused a problem at all.
Then on Namek, even after Goku is powered up massively by his gravity training and think he can do a Kaio-ken of up to 10 times (which is potentially a problem) he'd top out at 900,000. Freeza's second form would still be stronger than him.
Freeza's ridiculousness really starts after he's done away with the transformations, and Goku didn't have anything to do with that. Goku ended up being the one who needed to catch up to Freeza.
Well, when Goku got to Namek I don't think Frieza's second form was a thing yet.
But anyway.
I mean, there seems like there was a thing in early Dragon Ball where like.
Goku had to catch up to Mercenary Tao and King Piccolo. Catching up and surpassing his limits is a thing Goku does.
And Frieza's stupid strong strength and the way Super Saiyan works were almost a way to facilitate that.

I know, but like I said things didn't get crazy until after that. The escalation in Freeza's first and second forms isn't really that big - he's about 4.5x stronger than his best henchman, same difference between Vegeta and Nappa in the Saiyan arc. Then he doubles his strength when he transforms, which is much more reasonable than Vegeta's Oozaru. So I think that was just Toriyama's natural escalation of things.
Freeza's strength didn't need to reach 120,000,000 for that to work out. That was just pure insanity.
