Like, aaaagh. I swear, Gohan has the memory of a fucking GOLDFISH.
"Oh, now that I've become the most powerful being in the Universe and saved the Earth, there will never be any threats ever again, even though Every threat we've ever faced came out of fucking nowhere. GUESS I'LL JUST NEVER TRAIN AND LOSE THE POWER MY FATHER DIED TO HELP ME UNLOCK!"
"Oh, now that Buu's defeated, and I am as powerful as I will ever be, I guess I'll just never train ever again, because it's not like I have a wife or anything, and it's not like another threat will spontaneously appear."
"Oh, now that Beerus is gone, and dad is stronger than ever, I never need to train, even though I also now have a child of my own to protect. WHAT THE FUCK COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN? "
My various fanfics. So I've noticed people calling Flow's "HERO -Song of Hope-" the Ending Theme for Battle of Gods when it's clearly the Insert Song. I wonder why.
Also, I'm glad that FUNimation came up with Beerus. Bills is a stupid name.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Trade-off: I don't like math. I think it's boring. It's not what I want to do with my life. But I understand that it is necessary for me to function. Just because I mail in my taxes doesn't mean I completely dump all the mathematical knowledge out of my head once those forms are in the mail.
I'm not saying Gohan needs to never do anything but train and just be an exact carbon copy of Goku. But for FUCK'S SAKE, make an effort, son!
My various fanfics. And it's not like Gohan actually needs a job. His Father in law is rich. One of the smartest, richest, and most powerful women on the planet is practically his aunt. Gohan literally never needs to worry about anything ever. I think he can take an hour out of his day to fucking spar with Vegeta or something.
My various fanfics. So Freeza isn't actually much of a threat in and off himself and the tension comes from a fact that Goku now has a flaw that I really don't remember him having ever before.
Also Sorbet has a ring that can pierce through a Super Sayian God.
Also this:
Does not compute.
About Gohan:
If your planet is attacked by every few years and you are one of like three people who can save it, it would be smart to train even if you don't like fighting.
Perhaps Gohan has just gotten really Genre Savvy and realised there's no point to him training if Goku can beat everyone easily.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Aah, good times. I miss those times.

Which Goku can't.

Some people are trying to make out like Tagoma and Shisami were compared in something other than power to defend this. Even though when it was just Tagoma, it was explicitly said to be about power.
It really feels like this movie succeeds in making everyone look terrible. Freeza's not really a threat, and gets his ass kicked by Goku. But then Goku's not good either, because he apparently leaves him so open a weak attack takes him out (from Freeza's words, Sorbet's ring is not powerful enough to hurt a Saiyan God - Goku just leaves himself so open that weak fighters can hurt him). Vegeta then gets to "shine"... by staying out of the fight until Freeza is pretty much already beaten, and then he can't stop Freeza from destroying the planet.
I guess Beerus and Whis are the only ones not to look like total failures in the film.

That's kind of the vibe I got in the manga's ending with Oob, which is why I didn't like it. Gave up on Gohan, Goten and Trunks as possible alternatives and is now trying to pass the torch onto a stranger. It's just depressing.

So I wake up in the morning thinking ''Hey! what's up in the DBZ thread. And I see this.
Just minding my own Rob-ness man! What's the deal?
Getting serious, I can understand where some are coming from. I always took Gohan's reluctance to fight as a fear that if he lost control again (which is what he usually had to do in order to bring out his power since it awoke through anger), he'd become a greater threat to the earth than Cell. It may be that it was the first time he ever feared his own power, and he let that trump the danger in front of him.
Not that it didn't come out of nowhere mind you
One Strip! One Strip!
Thank you Unnoun. I appreciate that.
I can't have anyone being a bigger dick than me after all. I'm just a peace loving man.
As someone who also watched Battle of Gods a few days ago, I generally agree with your thoughts on it's humor and new characters. My one compliant is making Beerus responsible for Planet Vegeta's genocide.

That seems unlikely. It seems pretty clear that Toriyama has Protection from Editors.
