I mean, Yamcha also probably would have pressed the button on the remote and prevented Cell from reaching his perfection.
He's actually probably the most mentally stable person in the cast. Least issues ultimately. Least hang-ups.
Which, given he used to rob people for a living.

Yamcha didn't even win that fight against Goku. It was a tie at best, at worst he lost because he ran away.
Kuririn wouldn't have been killed by the Saibaiman. Tenshinhan wasn't, because he kept a healthy distance from the downed Saibaiman. Only Yamcha is that dumb.
Just cause everyone is surprised at the attack doesn't mean they would sit right in front of a downed opponent, turn their back and start talking shit.
Also nobody thought it was dead, just downed.
He hit it once then, Vegeta just decided to kill it. It looked like they all thought the one Yamcha faught was dead to me or at least out of commission. Also, I don't like speculated how they react in situations like that. Tien knew his could still fight and even though Krillin and the others knew one saibaman survived his big attack they were still taken off guard by it and it would have killed Gohan if not for Piccolo.
Like I said, no matter how I think about it, I can't hold it against him. I do admit he got a bit cocky, though.

We don't see their reactions to it being downed. Only Yamcha assumes it's down permanently, then everyone is surprised when it grabs him.
Only Gohan was taken off-guard by the one Kuririn missed, and that was because it dashed out of the smoke cloud and Gohan at that stage really sucked with his ki sensing.
There was a Deadpool comic where Hitler was ambushed by a time traveler, shot him, and then remarked about, "I must have done something TERRIBLE in a past life or something," because of all the time travelers that keep coming after him. Then he stole his gear and escaped through time, trying to hunt down the people responsible for the collapse of his regime. Mostly memorable for a moment where he briefly winds up in the present and Samuel L. Jackson Fury flips his shit just seeing him, remarking, "Oh, I KNOW you ain't time-traveling Hitler, son!"
The reason I bring this up is that I suddenly want to see Frieza pull something like that.
And even that is by a generous definition of "winning" because the fight never finished; once Bulma arrived, Yamcha panicked and fled the scene to escape from puberty, marking the first and last time Bulma defeated an opponent.

You're trying to convince people that Yamcha isn't a loser, and that way lies madness.
I've actually tried that myself. I still kinda waffle between finding the Yamcha jokes funny and just thinking it's kinda predictable now.
The fact of the matter is, his status is Memetic like Aquaman (only Aquaman is actually getting a little bit of respect from Comic book fans, and DC has been putting actual effort into banishing the spectre of Super Friends). People will never not see him as a loser.
I'm kinda all over the place on the Saibaman incident. He did fuck up by not paying attention, but he hit it with a Kamehameha, which packs a lot more punch then Tien simply elbowing it in the sternum, so I can't totally blame him for thinking that was it.
But he's still Yamcha. Remember, this is a character who is mocked by the American and Japanese fandom. That's not something you can bounce back from.
You're ice skating up hill and spitting against the wind. Yamcha will never not be a loser in the eyes of the fandom, so it's pointless to try and change anyone's mind.
Give up while you're still sane.
One Strip! One Strip!Dunno if this has been posted yet, but apparently the reason Whis is so strong
is that he can control time.
You're staring into the mouth of madness. Hearing the call of Cthulhu. No mortal mind was ever meant to grasp the unholy depths of Yamcha's battle power.

Krillin could've cut him in half.
