Bulma shot something she believed was a monster. She didn't think she was shooting a kid.
Given that she only managed to bruise Goku's forehead, and what would be revealed a few years down the line, she actually made the right call.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.![]()
There's nothing to indicate that at all. He straight up says he's a cheater as the reason they're not together. There's also nothing to indicate that what Trunks said is wrong.
Again, this is the reason the story gives for them not being together. There is absolutely nothing to go against this, stop reaching and trying to rationalize it away.
what the actual fuck, that's disgusting.
That was a shock. I often spoke with Hiromi Tsuru-san, who plays Bulma; both she and I thought Bulma and Yamcha would end up together. And for Vegeta, of all people! It really was a shock. So when I met with Toriyama-sensei, I complained, “Why did it have to be like this?!” Then Toriyama-sensei said, “Come on; Yamcha’s a cheater.” (laughs)

Basically everyone would murder in cold blood in their first appearance. That fish Goku killed was intelligent.
