[up]I mean, it makes sense. Achilles had his heel after all. A scar is still a life-long wound that's always going to be weaker than the rest of your body, even if it mostly heals. Plus Broly immediately took Paragus to a deserted wasteland before they started hitting up actual planets, so I doubt that the wound healed properly at all. And even if it's pure luck it still makes sense.

I also liked all the broly movies (except bio-broly) so I have no idea what you're talking about.

The second movie has a scene where Broly hits Videl and she doesn't immediately split in half.

Broly likes playing with his food and Videl had been training with Gohan for a while by that point. It would hardly be the first time where a much weaker character survives a hit from a much, much, much stronger character.

....No he doesn't. Broly's a berserker. He's one of the very few Dragonball villains who doesn't play with their food.

Back to Jiren something I'm worried about is the eventual "explanation" for his Godlike power cause you know their gonna half-ass it somehow.

Chances are its gonna be a vague & bland "He trained really, really hard" without going into detail as to how he actually trained.

Like Netero from Hunter x Hunter did 10,000 punches & prayers each & every day for several years & by the time he was done his punches were supersonic. Genji Kamogawa from Hajime no Ippo trained by punching a log into a hill giving him fists of iron. Even Saitama we know he did crunches, push-ups, & jogging for a set amount of time each day.

[up] I recall he punched her in his regular Super Saiyan form, not the Legendary which is where he goes completely off his rocker.

Remember when Mr. Satan got kicked by Omega Shenron and lived? That how it be sometimes.

Anyway, people like Broly because it's really cool to see him faceplant people into the ground. Same with Jiren. I think his character is paper thin at best, but I'm not going to pretend I didn't get hyped as hell when he fought Goku in the special.

Jesus Christ this topic again.

What more does a DBZ villain need? I seriously doubt this franchise needs someone as depth as Magneto.

Well the problem is Jiren has nothing.

At least Broly can be excused as being cheap popcorn entertainment.

Jiren is actually a serious antagonist ala Cell or more recently Zamasu. Say what you will about that green bastard he had something.

[up][up]Jiren isn't a villain no matter how much one hates him.

I would argue that Zamasu is a really bad villain but I rather not have bitch fit over him again.

I never said villain, I said antagonist.

At least Black had flair.

[up] Well topic seems to be about villains so I probably read that wrong.

& Yes Black had flair not Zamasu

The cell Saga had I think four new supersaiyan types and also was when supersaiyan became a thing that was just happening a lot

There was grade 2 or whatever Vegeta used against Semiperfect Cell, the angry roided up child form, the full release or whatever stating supersaiyan at all times form, and super saiyan 2

If that sort of thing annoys you, you're probably not going to care much for Broly throwing another variant into things

Hell I think the Buu Saga was more restrained with super saiyan because fusion was the new hotness

[up][up] Well they are still the same person so they got same motivations at least.

Also most of the antagonists are villains so of course it intersects.

[up][up] There was also Super Saiyan 3.

[up] Yes that is true about villain=antagonist being more or less the same thing but Jiren isn't like that. Doesn't change the fact it still woefully disappointed that he isn't a Heroic Antagonist.

This is gonna be the last thing I say about Zamasu & Black

Black wasn't nearly as whiny or pretentious as Zamasu. As broad as that may be, Black let his actions speak for themselves. The only time I found him to annoying is discussing his convenient power-ups & anger rant with his scythe.

Jiren may not need to be Magneto but considering how spectacularly un-entertaining he is along with how much screentime he's sucked up he fails in basically every aspect. He's not a funny villain, he's not a cool villain and he's not an interesting villain.

No one asked for Jiren to have a deep, mutilayered character. We just wanted him to be an entertaining one.

And entertaining he is not.

It's not like I want him to be complex, you've all seen me gush about his manga incarnation & there he's just a simple righteous hero of justice who actually feels like he's gonna be a genuine hero antagonist.

His design isn't actually awful. It's actually quite nice. It's got a nice silhouette. Bulky, but not stupidly muscled, and while it may be "standard alien" I think it's a pretty decent spin on it. That's probably the best thing about Jiren, the actual design.

Yeah his design is great.

The muscular look combined with the Grey Alien while wearing spandex of primary colors creates look while simple is also surprisingly memorable.

[up] His job can be done by a rock or an emotionless robot.......... Hell bring back 19.
