127: Yeah, I'm not happy about Vegeta going Blue 2 a few seconds after blowing all of his energy. The Saiyans don't have infinite energy like 17 (where his being a Determinator made sense) and that's pushing it way too far. At least Goku didn't immediately jump to Blue either time he was wiped out from Ultra Instinct, he had to fight weaker opponents in base for a while.
Jiren's backstory: I have conflicting feelings. For one, he's definitely not Superman. Jiren is Batman, and though I liked him being Superman, him being Batman works too, I guess. It actually does explain and justify why he's been so flat for most of the tournament, fairly well too, I would say. I remember how one of the early jokes about him was that he traded his personality for power, and that turned out to be not entirely incorrect. Overall, I'd say it's good, though I'm not a fan of Jiren being more morally grey, I liked the idea of him as a Hero Antagonist and a send-up of all the Goku vs Superman battles. Maybe I just need to get used to it.
Another day, another Final Flash... make that two. Wow.
And yeah, it's funny that Vegeta just immediately goes Beyond Blue after being out of energy. On top of that, the amount that Goku/Vegeta get knocked out of their blue forms so often and then just re-power up is tiring. I also like how Jiren releases his hidden power and immediately starts being pressured. SO MUCH FOR THAT.
Also, there's now no appreciable difference between Blue Goku and Blue Kaio-ken Goku with how he has pretty much the exact same performance in either form in this fight and in comparison to Beyond Blue Vegeta. The forms don't feel stronger than regular Blue alongside 17 either.
Freeza getting humiliated was funny. The flying is getting obnoxious. Jiren's backstory makes him even more of a typical martial artist, which I dislike (why on earth does he need to be ANOTHER martial artist, write something else) and I dislike that his characterization is now 'obsessed with strength'. Justice was a sham. It's kind of funny how having no emotions is being made part of his personality. He's just another Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy while being even more boring than the stereotypical example.
Belmod's characterization in regards to Jiren is nice, at least. And his reaction to 17.
I can't tell what was stupider.
Vegeta immediately going Blue, Belmoud telling Jiren's origin while their on the fucking clock & he could still easily lose this cause he's outnumbered 4 to 1, or Jiren apparently just straight up trying to kill them for no reason.
There is no fucking logic to this anymore. Who the Hell is writing this crap?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."![]()
Because he needed something before he blew himself up. Then again, usually when a character dies like that, it accomplishes jack, so he's lucky he at least bought some time.
I too am curious as to whether Jiren found his own personal Joe Chill or not. I'd laugh if it turned out that dude was still somehow stronger than Jiren, just to fuck with him.
Man, these last few minutes of the tournament must be in Namek time.

One Strip! One Strip! This whole tournament is in Namek time...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. This is fucking ridiculous & even worse next episode Vegeta is gonna have a valiant last stand still putting up something that resembles a fight.
The tension is destroyed, the suspension of disbelief is ruined beyond reparation, this "fight" has become a big a mess as a meth lab after a police shoot out.
God I can only hope the manga makes an actually comprehensible product.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Honestly the fighting is too repetitive and bland for me. There's no feeling of injury or exhaustion even when there should be, the strategies aren't at all strategic 'I know his weakness - powerful attacks when he's not guarding!' no shit Goku, and the whole thing is too drawn out.
There's barely any flow to these fights, and they're similar to the Z anime padded fights where things just happen inconsequentially as they stall for time.
Took the words right outta my mouth.
Only two things made me emote, when 17 made all those barriers & Jiren crashed through them or that fire uppercut he did against a Kamehameha.
Everything else was just bland & repetitive especially the pommel duels as Carrot & Vegetable keep double-teaming Stove. This does not deserve to be stretched out to multiple episodes.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Especially as we all know that all of this is pointless till Goku goes Ultra Instinct again. Like, this is like the stuff where they tried to trick Jiren into going off the side with the Hexagon Kienzan. You know that they're not gonna have it end without Goku going for that final form.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"![]()

Oh yeah, the way Jiren plowed through the barriers was decent enough. That's the other positive I had.
So I was looking up the move because when it came out I was curious what the Japanese name of the move is (because Hexa Blade sounds weird as hell) and I've just learned the move creates 5 discs. What the everloving fuck

I will say something that made me laugh unintentionally was how when 17 was fighting at the start he was kicking with the same leg (because of looped animation) over and over again and it just reminded me of videogames where you spam the same heavy attack.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Which will be the third valiant last stand made by Vegeta in like the span of five episodes.
I think this is largely my biggest issue with this arc. It's all "big moments" with little actual flow or proper buildup connecting them.

God does that make it worse.
This arc made me hate Vegeta. Seriously fuck him, he has gotten so annoying especially with the fact he used a self-destruction attack & survived while poor 17 died instead. He is a waste of space & resources now. Next episode is gonna be so boring.
They should have found a more organic way of showing it really.

I'm more stupefied to be honest.

I laughed when 17 said he was going to use his wish to go on a cruise and Belmod was all "are you fucking serious?"
