Any other instance, eh? Well too bad there's only instances from the character whose schtick is getting stronger from his rage - Gohan.
Goku turning Super Saiyan isn't a good comparison at all, because the actual Super Saiyan transformation is a pretty important step that goes between "get angry" and "get stronger". Without that, just getting stronger makes no sense.
It is outright said by Vegeta himself that you don't get stronger from protecting people. It has always been Gohan's thing to have his dormant power brought out by his anger. Both of these are ignored for the sake of fanservice.
Krillin gets a noticeable power boost when he tries to avenge Yamcha's death early in the story, as did Tien and Chaotzu.
And Goku's transformation amounts to pretty much the same exact thing as Vegeta did in the movie; his anger led to a power boost, transforming is really beside the point because the end result is the same.
So really, it just comes off as an extreme double standard on your end; Oh, when everyone else gets power boosts through rage, it makes sense within the context of the story. But when Vegeta does it? Blatant pandering that apparently contradicts the story, because fuck Vegeta :V
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
While I don't really mind the boost (it amounted to absolutely nothing in the end), I actually disagree.
Krillin did not get a boost when Yamcha died; he just stopped fucking around and showed he had an attack that could wipe them all out.
The same with Goku on Namek. He already had the power before, but the anger at Krillin's death let him tap it fully. We got a hint to it when he first bounced back against Frieza earlier in their fight as well.
......Now that I think about it, how is what I just described any different from what Gohan does? He gets angry and taps the powers hidden deep with in him. I suppose the only difference is that he usually gets more than any training could unlock.
One Strip! One Strip!Reached the part where Piccolo and Kami are about to fuse.
Erm...By now isn't it too late to be playing the "I'm doing this to rule the world" thing, Piccolo? I know it was just an emotional outburst, but it's been years since Gohan first rubbed off on him; by now you'd think he's be used to fighting for team good.

Well, only Tien and Trunks (the latter, not knowing Piccolo quite as well) really bought it. Krillin saw through it right away, and Goku likely would have as well.
Piccolo was just being a little stubborn about admitting that merging with Kami was his only recourse.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Alright, put that way, it makes a bit more sense. Still...
That coupled with him and Goku pulling a Superman at the end of the episode makes it hard to swallow.
Filler, but who cares, it was funny,

Especially since he could have just suggested that Goku teach her how to fly, which would have saved them a lot of money in the long run.
One Strip! One Strip! And let's not forget the Nimbus Cloud.
Actually. Let's forget the Nimbus Cloud, since the Z Fighters certainly did, when they learned to fly.
And I pause for a moment, for this one glorious moment. For the next few chapters, Pjccolo is now the strongest in all of Dragon Ball.
Not a baddie, not a Saiyan; this guy right here,
It wasn't meant to last...

"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018He did it before on Namek when he fused with Nail.
It's not a new thing for him.
One Strip! One Strip!Though...Technically 16 was the strongest at that point, and...You know what? Screw it. I'm still counting that, and I'm counting Pjccolo being number one on Namek for a...Very short time, but it's time nonetheless.
Got to the big island busting battle. I'll be saying "get out of the freaking way" a lot, won't I?

Come to think of it, why didn't Piccolo ever turn giant after the Garlic Jr. battle? He doesn't sacrifice anything in that form (which he even bragged about to the Mighty Glacier Super Garlic Jr.).
And before you say "filler, not canon", he did it in the battle with Goku in the original Dragon Ball.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerIt probably wouldn't help much against the enemies they end up fighting.
I don't think his power level goes up does it. So while he might somehow not lose any speed, he doesn't become anymore durable, and would just be a bigger target .
One Strip! One Strip!I went over this with Saiga a while ago. Which is to say I asked the same question and he told me why Piccolo never used it again. The giant form has pretty much no advantages and a lot of weaknesses as Goku highlighted in that fight.
Piccolo's stretchy arms though probably could have come in handy at some point.

Sounds about right.
It's best thing is intimidation, and if it didn't work on Goku, then it would be useless against anyone else.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, Piccolo's giant form actually doesn't increase his battle power or anything. He can hit harder, but Goku was able to outmanoeuvre him too easily in their battle. The form isn't filler, but what Piccolo said to Garlic Junior is filler and just plain wrong.
I think the stretchy arms phased out when the flight became a lot more prominent and they started moving at such high speeds reach became less of a factor.
@Black Yakuzu Double standard? What? Vegeta's one of my favourite characters, I'm not trying to dump on him. As pointed out, Kuririn and Goku didn't get rage boosts, and I'm not saying it's the worst writing or anything, but... it's not good. It does directly contradict the story and it's honestly just dumb.
@Sunshine Too bad, Piccolo's never been the strongest. Deal with it.
Hell, even if you discount 16, 17 was equally as powerful as him. And if you discount Freeza's other forms, his second form is arguably stronger than him already given how their fight went before Freeza transformed. And then there's all the dialogue suggesting that Gohan after being healed was already stronger than Piccolo before he showed up.
It's not easy being green. Really can't tell where he was screwed harder, Namek or Android arc.

Double post because FUCK YEAH XENOVERSE
- Character creation is back, and better than ever!
- Not just limited to Saiyans like in UT, you've got the DBO races as well - Namekians, Majins and Earthlings - and there are hints to possibly more races still!
- Female characters are possible
- Looks like a wide variety of costume options, some straight from DBO. This also means you won't be limited to the original character's wardrobes!

I wish I had a PS 3. I would so create a Female Majin named Princess Bubblegum,

Ya know, if you're going with this logic; Goku going Super Saiyan for the first time is also bullshit and goes against the series. As well as any other instance of a character getting empowered by their rage in this series. Vegeta is not the only one guilty of doing this, so I don't know why you're singling him out for it.
