In fairness to Gotenks, I'm not sure his antics would have been any more annoying than Roshi's perverted nature being cranked up which did happen in this arc. Since Goten and Trunks are fairly young I could also see them picking up more moves to diversify their powersets. But for some reason they're permanently trapped in child form and since Super is a nostalgia based show it seems pretty bad at doing anything other than continuing in a straight line character development wise.
This is why I think the U6 tournament was better - it had fewer combatants and could thus develop them more, and the stakes were nowhere near as high so it was easier to enjoy.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"LOL what? How could Toyotarou be in any position to 'demand' the writers use his material? Why would they feel obligated when they are so different from his version? It seems more likely that they just want to make a shoutout either for fanservice or as an easy source of ideas for them to use, like how they're drawing from past material in various other places.
UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
You know what, fuck it. I'm with Shulgo, get rid of Gohan please. I'm actually kind of fed up with his performance in this arc lol. Even if he does make it to the end, it sure as hell isn't going to feel earned.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. You know, from those spoilers, I would kind of prefer if any of the more whacky predictions had taken place rather than just the bog standard ending they appear to be going for.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"I will forever make fun of Gohan for doing something that's Super!Goku level of stupid.
This song needs more love.Hesitating to attack 17 when he's in the path of the attack you mean?
Man, I'm desperately hoping that things aren't what they appear to be here, cause I know if Gohan doesn't make some kind of comeback, then nothing he does will matter from this point on.
I don't know why they are so determined to hold back with him: first they had him get weaker, even though Goku and Vegeta were stronger in the god forms, so there was no reason to dial him back.
Now, they seem to be deliberately finding ways for him to botch things. I just don't get what the issue with Gohan and the writers is.
Now, we're all jumping the gun a bit, since we just have a summary, but I really am worried Gohan is going to become a thread punching bag.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm more upset at the general writing than anything else. But yea, it's like they really don't know how to write Gohan at all. It's like they want him to be the Naïve Newcomer that he was as a kid, but completely ignoring the fact that he's a fucking adult and has had more than enough experience at this point.
It's like they're regressing his character for the sake of nostalgia.
I'm definitely overreacting a bit, but his performance in this arc has been rather lackluster so I don't doubt the writers would just continue the trend under the impression that his eventual "comeback" feels cathartic.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.It doesn't have to punch any ridiculously large holes in the plot. The entire point of the Mafuba is punching above one's weight class and no upper limits were established except "Piccolo can redirect it if he sees it coming" and, "it only works for as long as the container is unbroken."

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Hey, remember when the Kamikaze Fireballs fused? Or Krillin was disqualified instead of eliminated? Or Frost eliminated Roshi? Or when Piccolo accidentally fell out of the arena? I wouldn't trust the small but important details of these spoilers, and I'm going to wait for the episode proper to come out before I make any judgements.
Haha!
Welcome to the Dark Side!
But seriously tho, Gohan performance this arc has been mediocre at best and it's so weird reading people who want him to instantly gain the power up Goku been working for through most of the super and have been trying to master for half his arc, but better and defeat Jiren. Gohan has done nothing to deserve the title of Multiversal Champion and handing it to him on a silver platter would be the biggest bullshit Super could cook up.
Wetness is our experience of other things being covered in water so by technicality, water is not wet. It's the same principle that says a fish in water is not wet but a fish that was just taken out of water is wet.
