Stardust Crusaders is really annoying about that because nothing happens up until they get to Egypt lol. I mean yea, fights are cool and all, but holy shit at some point I was thinking "Are they in Egypt yet..."

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. The difference with Jojo's is that loads of stand fights just kick ass. I do agree Stardust Crusaders is the worst about it and it also has the weakest fights, but then you get to part 5 (which I actually consider a weak part other than the fights) and there's this stretch where there's about 8 really fucking kickass fights in a row and it's just amazing.
Like, there is a certain amount of really good fight work that compensates for the plot not moving along super fast and the middle of part 5 is it.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"I will at least give Stardust Crusaders credit for killing two of its main cast with a Monster of the Week.

This song needs more love.Eh. the fakeout was bad, so his real death didn't mean much to me also lol Black Dude Dies First
And Iggy was just... he was basically completely human in the end and that was just disappointing after his introduction.
Same story with Bleach. The plot eventually got hilariously weighed down with trying to keep majority of the Soul Society Captains and Lieutenants relevant to the plot, to the detriment of the actual main cast.
Oh God that is so true about Bleach too.
I'll never understand why Kubo wasted so much time on Shunsui's niece instead of actually important characters. The entire final battle with Buckbeard which should have gotten tons of focus was effectively castrated because of the schizophrenic focus on minor characters.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Given how many characters don't get major fights I don't think that's quite accurate.
It's definitely filled with side fights that don't directly contribute to the main plot, but I think that's more die to setting and scale since Bleach is focused on large organizations warring with each other. A handful of fights wouldn't fit that feel, so there is a greater number of fights but doesn't lead to EVERYONE being given a fight.
It still leads to the same issues with pacing, but I feel the intent is different.
Nanao had like 2 chapters at the tail end of Kyoraku's fight. Yhwach's fight was cut shott bevause of Kubo's worsening health.

Kubo should stick to drawing because he can't write characters (or plots) for shit.
Didn't help that he introduced over 30 unique characters in the second arc then proceeded to introduce about 10 more every additional arc and was very, very bad about killing characters off even when it was clearly neccessary (seriously, Aizen doesn't kill anyone in his betrayal).
Not that I can blame him though. If I'd made an MC as monumentally dull as Ichigo I'd try my hardest to make sure he was on screen alone as little as possible.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Because Momo serves absolutely no use in the story at that point, for one.
Not surprised that Aizen doesn't bother to kill anyone, I'm just surprised he never just upped and killed Yamamoto considering how fucking broken his Shikai is.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Ginyu force and I don't even like them that much. It isn't even a competition. They're way too fun and the P Ts are way too dour.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Sigil: I watched the Dark Tournament and I only found Kurama's fights entertaining. Also, four saint beasts and chapter black are the worst parts of YYH and that's saying a lot.
As far as cast size goes I feel like Bleach introduced too many characters too soon and then had to show what they were doing or we'd all go 'okay so where are those dozen or so jerks that are all supposed to be about as strong as the main character?' The characters themselves were all generally very interesting, but not much could be done with them without the pacing grinding to a halt. Which it arguably still did anyway. That being said, Bleach is actually one of my favorite shonen because, as I said, the characters are actually quite good.
Dragonball's issue was that it introduced characters and then discarded them once they'd served their purpose, but didn't always do it very cleanly. It worked okay up through Z but then Super decided to bring all the outpaced losers back because ???
Re: JJBA talk: Said Monster of the Week was basically DIO's Dragon, though. Steel Ball Run's main villain has his Dragon kill a major-ish character as well.

It might be just because I got bored of the Tournament of Power and pretty much just subsist on synopses now, but none of the Pride Troopers save for Jiren, Dyspo, and Toppo stand out to me. Ginyu Force rules.

There's not a single Bleach character worth shit from the bottom to the top. They're either boring, underused or shallow. Heck, I'd take Fairy Tail 's cast over Bleach's.
But this isn't the "let's speak truth to power about Bleach" thread, so I'll refrain from saying any more.
"Super decided to bring all the outpaced losers back because ???"
Because... Super is a fanservice show. Ever wonder why the status quo hasn't changed from the start? Because Super is just there so you can watch Goku or whoever do their thing against the next biggest thing. They're back for the same reason Vegeta landed hits on Beerus in SSJ 2 and Goku did the same in SSJ 1 and Trunks has a pseudo SSB form and can use the Spirit Ball. They're there to please the fans.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"The status quo hasn't changed because it literally can't until they get to the end of Z.
This song needs more love.

Adding Goku in either means drastically changing the tone so the heroes feel outmatched, or drastically changing how Goku is treated so he isn't someone the other characters can rely on.
