Oh, yeah, he died in part one and stayed dead because somehow Vegeta was exempt from the "Wish back everyone killed by Freeza" wish, even though he was still killed by Freeza. It wasn't thought through very well.
My various fanfics.Vegeta dies in nearly all of them, yeah. Except for "What if Vegeta was the first Super Saiyan", I'm pretty sure. And I think Masako was rushing to get the first part out so it wasn't his best work. Like how, for some reason, Nail wasn't wished away with everyone else in the "wish everyone but me and Freeza off Namek" wish, meaning he somehow was able to help Goku escape Namek and therefore, Goku never learns Instant Transmission.
My various fanfics.Hell, in the What if Raditz was good videos, I'm pretty sure Vegeta is about to turn evil again. And maybe go Super Saiyan 4?
My various fanfics. He did turn evil again...

My various fanfics.Reading the Super manga, I realize something that really bothers me about its portrayal of the Future Trunks arc: Goku never fights Goku Black. At all. That's kind of bullshit. Goku is the main character of the series and the initial main antagonist of the arc in question is an evil god who possessed his body and murdered his family... and they never actually fight. Logically, Goku should have more investment in fighting Black than anyone aside from Trunks.
He fights the fused Zamasu, which is the main antagonist and still every part of Black.
Fighting Black solo is something he could have done if, rather than being defeated by Zamasu, Zamasu merely stalled until Black was able to fight Goku instead of being able to force Goku into retreat by himself. But that doesn't really help the pacing.
Otherwise, having Trunks learn the mafuba to begin with (not staying behind) so Goku is free to fight Black for the second trip would be ideal. But that doesn't work with the current set up, since you can't fit God-Blue in there unless Goku comes up with that and Complete Blue which would be lame. I never would have brought back God though, so the version I came up for the second trip would be significantly different.
Also, yeah, was part of my idea. He'd be in for the second trip.

Personally, I'd keep Blue Kaioken for Goku and make it so that Vegeta's way of keeping up is by unlocking the higher forms of Super Saiyan in Blue, e.g. Super Saiyan Blue 2 and 3. Have him use Blue 2 against Black after coming out of the time chamber. Aside from that, it'd be pretty similar to how the anime did it, except taking the "only two trips to the future" thing from the manga.
Would Black have any higher forms?
Also, Kaio-ken could track pretty well against the official Super Saiyan multipliers. I assume it'd be x2 compared to Super Saiyan 2 (since those are the same) and x10 compared to Super Saiyan 3 (10x vs 8x). The divergent evolution is neat as well, but I think that leads to too much power escalation (and I don't necessarily like Blue 2/3 since it has appeared in ALL the fan art/clickbait youtube videos).

In sillier news, Future Nappa.
