Honestly, there have been a lot of debates on how reliable Goten and Trunks would be in the tournament.
I understand the main reason why they aren't in (pandering to nostalgia, which is odd, as Toriyama has never been one for that before considering how casual he is about screwing characters over for the sake of the plot he wants), but I gotta say, after how badly they botched Buu (though I admit that not all of it was their fault, but they pulled a lot of dumb stunts in the build up, and if they'd gone Super Saiyan 3 from the start, they might have found a way to actually win or at least avoid getting everyone else killed) I'm not sure I'd want them involved in something so important.
Plus, once again, their moms would likely object to their involvement.
Finally, whatever you believe about how well they should do, I feel like Goten and Trunks would be more slaves to the plot than anything else. If someone is needed to mess up to create some drama, they'd be perfect for that role. So in the end, glad they aren't there, as I don't expect them to get a fair shake this time.
One Strip! One Strip!Goku: "Goten and Trunks are too unreliable."
Also Goku: "Yo Frieza you want in on this?"

This song needs more love.Well yeah, I agree that the Frieza thing is really stupid (as I hate that they cut out Buu in the first place).
This is why they should have kept Future Trunks around. Then again, maybe that would be risky considering how Time Travel is viewed.
One Strip! One Strip!I agree with keeping F. Trunks around. Then they could have replaced Tien (sorry best buddy but they didn't do anything with you in the tournament :c). Sending him off to an alt. universe makes little sense - he doesn't know any of the people there.
Heck, you could have replaced Master Roshi and Krillin with Freeza and Cell alongside Fat Boo and it would have been a pretty cool dynamic between the main heroes and the three main villains.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"By that logic, Gohan should be out too, since he dropped the ball even harder (which Piccolo even called him out on).
Ironic given that's exactly what Goku ended up doing for a good portion of the Tournament. That and Krillin got eliminated within the first 10 minutes.
All that blather about this being a tournament of skill is complete bullshit anyway.
Only Roshi actually did impressive shit but all that talk about the skill based fighters ended up accomplishing jack-shit while Goku & Vegeta get by, by being overwhelmingly stronger than most of the contestants.
Tohei done fucked up on that one.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The literal one and only time PMC agrees with the canon is when it agrees with him.
My various fanfics. He's too hard to draw.
Also, has anyone talked about Brian Drummond as Copygeta yet?

Last night when the episode came on Toonami.
We even thought they should get Scott Mcneil to voice one of the U6 Namekians which lead to a conversation about the To P contestants getting fun accents & voices for when the dub gets that far.
Apparently not, he's behind Frieza & Buu where the latter is the most popular villain.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Man, now I wish Peter Kelamis had been brought in to dub Cabba.

My various fanfics.
I straight-up cackled when they got to Rolf.
What makes it implausible is what the series already established. The Super Saiyan Kids are Full Power Super Saiyans, which is where most of the benefits of being Super Saiyan come from. All of F Trunks' strenuos training doesn't compare to the gains he made from sparring with a Super Saiyan and mastering the form. That took him two years. It took Goku and Gohan one. Goten and kid Trunks have done both. They're still not on the adult Saiyans' level, but they're not terribly far off like some fans want them to be.
They're stronger than 18 at the very least, and can put up a decent fight against Gohan. The idea that they're 50 times weaker than the adults is truly ludicrous, unless you massively overestimate the adults.
Furthermore, the idea that Kuririn would be stronger than any forms is not rooted in any logic at all and based entirely in fan desire. Both points would be why Super seems to be going with that.
Kuririn admitted inferiority to base Goten/Trunks, though that would be obvious anyway. The fan battle powers you got are complete bullshit, Goten/Trunks are stronger than Namek Goku so are at least ovee 150 mill. Kururin's last recorded battle power is 75,000 and he gave up fighting about 3 years after that, never using the room, not training on Kaio's planet, and not having any sparring partners.
If you think 3 years of medicore training could bring him up to 9 million from that point, I don't see how you could ever complain about Goten and Trunks' strength.
Regardless, pre-Super Kuririn was nowhere near base Goten in strength and the idea that he would be a better pick for the tournament based on technique or experience is nonsense. We have seen across all of Dragon ball that with a certain difference of power, victory becomes impossible. And that's the most logical outcome: experience can't save you if someone moves way faster than you can react and can tear you apart like wet paper.
