To be fair though, this isn't new to Dragon Ball. They've always introduced fighters that are supposedly strong only to get beaten easily as a means of subversion and to make the main characters look good.
However, we already know Universe 7 are strong. So the only thing this tournament has accomplished is saying that the entire multiverse are inferior to our heroes.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Also as funny as it was 17 getting scolded for rightfully interrupting the Fireball's transformation sequence will forever remain one of the most dumbest moments in the entire franchise.
Goku should be ashamed he didn't defend 17 for doing the right thing.
Its just now becoming really boring. Its one thing to do it with general humans but when your doing it to fantastic shit like robots, aliens, magical warriors then your crossing a line.

If you're able to care about anyone not named Goku/Vegeta then you should be able to care about the other universes.
That the other universes aren't on Goku/Vegeta's level does not mean they'd be best used wanking those two. They can interact with the other teammates. They can be threats to those teammates.
That way it matters. Because Goku/Vegeta and U 11 could eliminate each other, and then it comes down to who wins out of the weaker characters.
When Roshi suggested Gohan cover Gamisaras with blood from his nose and Gohan said no but it did give him an idea and then he started blasting in Piccolo and Gamisaras' direction, did anyone else think he was going to shoot Piccolo's arms off and use his blood to reveal Gamisaras, instead of just blasting up some dust?
Another thing I thought about is that you could stretch out a gimmick fighter like Damon but he can't necessarily be the main threat.
Another flaw in this arcs execution is that they have a hard time to focus on more than one conflict. Like I guess the Namekians & final U2 warriors did it better but they still seem to have trouble juggling, just look at how Toppo vs Vegeta was handled as it was started smack dab in the middle of Goku's fight with the Saiyan girls.
Like an example I'm thinking is if the U3's Megazord comes out & everyone focuses their attention on it. There Damon could have focused on sneak attacks in the middle of the chaos & effectively isolate some fighters in the confusion.
I don't know, I just think it would take advantage of the chaos a battle royale is supposed to have.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I was thinking that this would be a better way to plot out this episode, without changing or adding much to the fighters:
Quitela sends a telepathic message to his fighters to begin the final phase. Shantsa hides and creates his illusion field, covering the whole arena and obscuring it from the view of the spectators. The illusions of the erased fighters appear in front of all the remaining fighters and begin taunting and berating them for letting them die and letting Universe 7 kill them. The fighters from U7 group up and start attacking the illusions while the fighters from U11 and U3 are given a guilt-trip by them HARD. The U7 team's punches and blasts just phase through, though.
Suddenly, the illusions start fighting back, Gamisaras and Damon attack the U7 team using the illusions as cover, as the U11 and U3 fighters continue to get scolded for not doing anything to stop them and their universe's erasure. Shantsa's been observing the events of the tournament by flying above the action using his jets when no-one was paying attention, and he's learned the personalities and relationships of all the eliminated fighters well enough to replicate them convincingly. Gamisaras and Damon are both strong enough to replicate the attacks of even some of the strongest warriors in the tournament.
The U7 fighters are battling illusions of fighters whom they care about or fought during the tournament. Gohan is fighting Illusion Obuni with all of his own illusions, who's blaming him for killing his wife and child, as well as Illusion Botamo and some fighters from U10. Goku is fighting illusions of Kale, Caulifla, the Trio De Dangers, and Hit, who're accusing him of being a villain for murdering them. Same with 17 and 18, who're dealing with illusions of the Kamikaze Fireballs, the male Kamikaze Fireballs, as well as some fighters from U10. Vegeta's dealing with a ton of fighters from U9, as well as Prum, Harmila, and Magetta. Freeza's fighting illusions of Frost, Cabba, Jimmies, Oregano, and some fighters from U9 and U10. Piccolo's fighting Rubalt, Saonel, Pirina, and the 100 Namekians within Saonel and Pirina.
Piccolo is knocked out of the arena and grabs on to the ledge with his stretchy arms, getting his hands cut off by illusion Saonel with his ki blade and he's eliminated. Piccolo explains what's going on to the U7 bench. Piccolo thinks long and hard about what's happening from the bench as Gamisaras and Damon are able to focus on the remaining U7 fighters even harder with fewer targets. He listens hard with his super-hearing for any telltale sounds in the constant cacophony of illusion fighters yelling their grievances. He hears the illusion fighters urging the U3 and U11 fighters to step up and just take out U7 already. Piccolo locks on and notices two distinct sets of footsteps, one pair much lighter than the other. He also senses Damon and Shantsa.
Piccolo talks with the U7 bench, trying to work out what's going on, until they collectively figure it out and yell U4's plan to their teammates still fighting in the arena. The U7 fighters, armed with knowledge, start making a comeback against Damon and Gamisaras hiding in the illusions. Freeza shoots Shantsa out of bounds from across the arena, dispelling the illusion, and Gohan and 17 are able to beat Gamisaras and Damon, respectively. The U3 and U11 fighters have clearly been affected by Shantsa's illusions, and they look at the U7 fighters with a mixture of sadness and anger.
Quitela is erased trying to Hakai Zeno, and the U4 fighters go out with dignity. The episode ends with Paparoni and the U3 fighter challenging U7. Under this plot summary, Katopesla was either eliminated by Vegeta at the start of 119 before Quitela triggered his plan or he lives to 120.

I absolutely love how after Quitela being super smug about his plans, it turns out to be just a few gimmicky fighters that go down in a single episode. Serves him right.
It's actually kinda weird how much problem the invisible guy gave them, seeing how Yamcha could deal with that trick back in Dragon Ball. Heck, Goku can fight just by sensing the air moment or something.
And yes, I too though Gohan was going to shoot Piccolo arms off.
Well, U4 is gone, so all that left now is U3 and we can get to the main event. Shouldn't take too long.
I think the To P would’ve been better if it was placed as the second-to-last arc. All the fighters would’ve had solid development during previous arcs, arcs centered around their universe, with Goku/Vegeta tagging along I guess.
This kind of reminds me of the DCEU. It’s in such bad shape because WB refused to flesh out their heroes in standalone movies in favor of having them all team up first. They want that Avengers money without putting in the work first.

Not sure about Toppo as well as the fact Jiren should have eliminated Kale that time.
