Was the Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack not in the manga?
I like it, but I don't like it coming back in so suddenly and everyone fathoming over it in the crowd. They keep ooi'ng and aw'ing, but not only does Goku have some "strange god-exclusive ability" he has some new, mutant strain of it that even the chief masters of the skill aren't fully able to identify.
I'm not fond of this "attacking/defending" stuff either. Super is getting a little too much like "Hunter X Hunter" for my liking.
- Goku and Gohan transforming with bird imagery
- Gohan walking up to and threatening Super Buu
- Goku and Freeza slugging each other before the tournament

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!God I wish Super was more like Hx H. We might get more tactical battles like in the old DB days.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"
DB battles weren't all that tactical.
True, Roshi beat Goku by outsmarting him, but only after using up every other technique he knew as Goku casually countered them (or got help from Bulma waking him, or got lucky enough to look at the moon).
He did use tactics against Buyon in during Muscle Tower, but beat Tao by just getting stronger (though in a unique way mind you). The same with King Piccolo.
It's a reality I've had drilled into me: power is first and foremost in this series. You can't weasel your way to a victory or use a clever trick. If you're not strong enough to win, you've already lost.
One Strip! One Strip! We already have a gigantic cast of characters no one is going to remember for anything significant, a storyline that isn't going anywhere fast but nevertheless keeps you watching, and an overly powerful clown character.
The art style and animation are even kind of similar.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!"Wasn't Netero vs Meruem the most awesome fight in the series? & wasn't it like a DBZ slugfest with more spectacle due to Netero's power?"
No.
Netero is personally vulnerable. Meruem is personally a tank. Netero will eventually grind Meruem down if Meruem can't figure out a way to get past his Nen defences. So Meruem does this by applying the knowledge he learnt from all those matches with Komugi to gradually identify and exploit the weaknesses in Netero's defence.
There's a very important strategic element to the fight going on all the while.
Neither one is "more powerful" than the other in a strict sense. Netero has vastly superior experience. Meruem has superior personal damage. So it all came down to Meruem's honed intelligence to carry the day.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"I guess the teeth are vestigial though teeth is also used for speech.
Ya know I'm in it for the story & adventure of Hx H not the fight scenes. I mean what made Kurapika vs Uvogin so satisfying wasn't the actual battle but Kurapika brutalizing a despicable human being & achieving righteous vengeance for his clan.
The overall adventure is more enthralling than the actual battles.

Heh reminds me of something here but I can't tell what.

I'd like to believe they eat trees.
Also they kind of need to pronounce words...

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. This is just blatantly untrue. Superior experience didn't change the strength gap, and considering how fast Mereum was able to figure out Netero's pattern, didn't actually amount to anything in that fight besides keeping him alive a few minutes longer.
I don't consider DBZ fights (aside from the Vegeta fight) good in any sense aside from build up and emotional payoff. Half of them require the villain and hero to swap the Idiot Ball every five minutes to prevent the fight from ending early. There's almost never even the barest hint of strategy, at best one character defending another while they charge up an attack or a creative way to get a power up. Groups almost never matter. The actual power system causes fights to repeatedly devolve into How Much More Can He Take? - especially when two of the four main villains have abilities that allow them to regenerate from anything with no effort.
Of the four final battles in Z, the Vegeta fight is great and the Cell fight has some pretty epic moments even if it is dumb as hell. The Freeza fight is the biggest case of Idiot Ball ever since the heroes were saved by the villain never putting in any effort until the MC got mad enough and got a powerup after someone got killed. The Buu fight... I have no words.
That's my point. Had Meruem not had that training with Komugi he would have lost since he never would have been able to figure out Netero's pattern.

No, he wouldn't. That was a war of attrition that was overwhelmingly in Meruem's advantage. Netero was never going to win that fight, the difference between the two was far too great.
But even if that were the case, that Meruem can be good enough to figure out Netero's pace after like, what, a week? Tells you how much Netero's experience actually amounted to in that fight.

A lot of people assume that because Meruem was dimly feeling pain after a while that Netero's attacks weren't doing much. But since a bug has a hard shell... and after you crack that shell it's basically done for, I'd chalk this up to Meruem was closer than is first apparent to critical existence failure.
Either way, yes, he is a genius. This is displayed early on. He ha a lot of natural advantages, combined with spending all his time playing what amounts to 3d chess with a girl who has that as her superpower.
