Who knows which voices the other guys say "suck"? I don't like Frieza's or 18's - and lo, they're the ones with new voices. Vegeta sounds better, and I didn't really notice any change in Goku's.
But after hearing him in the Battle of Gods trailer, I'd have to go back and re-watch some scenes from Kai to make sure.

What a match between Brazil and Chile! To lose on penalties like that was absolutely heartbreaking for Chile.
...Oh, and Dragon Ball Z Kai beats the pants off of the original Dragon Ball Z in every regard. Especially the voice acting, Christopher Ayres and Colleen Clinkenbeard are the best additions to the english dub of the Dragon Ball franchise ever. Freeza and Gohan have never sounded better.

They never sounded any worse either...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.
So you'd rather take a 100 year old chain smoking granny Freeza and rapsy sounding Gohan over a sophisticated, smoothing talking Freeza and preteen Gohan that actually sounds like a preteen Gohan?
I got two words for ya... Nostalgia Filter

I just didn't like the voices...and I haven't watched the original dub in more than enough time to only have a basic memory of what they sound like. Nostalgia has nothing to do with what I "Like" it only has to do with what I'm use to, this is the way I think.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Gohan sounds infinitely better in Kai, if not for the acting but for the fact he actually sounds like a child.
Stephanie Nadolny was decent as Gohan at times but for majority of the time sounded way too raspy and deep for a 4-10 year old.
Freeza is hands down the biggest improvement. Thank God they got rid of Linda Young.

So because she sounds like a child with a terribly-chosen voice she makes a better Gohan? His voice actor had not an iota of the sheer emotion Gohan's original voice had. And, again, his voice was too high-pitched and annoying for a character that gets such tremendous focus.
Now, you're free to keep telling me my preference is wrong.

what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseGiven Frieza's characterization, 60-year old chain smoker sounds perfect.
But to each their own I suppose.
I will not relent on 18 though. Thank goodness her original VA is coming back, even if 18 gets clobbered in BOG.
Abridged wins in just about every category.
Ha ha, mmm... no.
I'll give you the scene where 18 breaks Vegeta's arm though.

Seeing the Tien/Goku fight at the 23rd Budokai be bringing back them memories. The holy shit factor of weighted clothes wasn't worn out at the time, so I thought it was the awesomest when Goku stripped, and started fighting fast as wind on sacred land.
I can't believe it took me long to realize it, but AOT's first arc is essentially the Saiyan Saga. Huh...

I really don't know any polite, eloquent, cold-hearted, narcissistic, sadistic, machiavellian inspired rulers who would sound like they are a chain smoking 60 year old.
I just can't look at Dragon Ball Z the same way after watching Dragon Ball Z Kai. I mean, I feel likes its a superior adaption of the original manga in every way, in comparison to the original show because the script is more accurate, the plot is way less dense and cluttered, there is much less Narmish voice acting and the animation looks way cleaner. Dragon Ball Z will always have that unique, one of a kind Narm Charm and a special place in my heart for introducing me to the wonderful world of Anime but if I were to choose between the two shows, I'd go with Dragon Ball Z Kai any day.
Just my two cents
x4 I'm not telling you your preference is wrong. I'm simply stating what my opinion was as you are as well. Don't make arrogant ass claims like that.

Well the main reason that Dragon Ball Z Kai even exists is because they wanted to create a version of Dragon Ball Z that had less filler. Because the filler of the original Dragon Ball Z was probably the biggest complaint against the show because it slowed downed, and I mean seriously slowed down, any plot development and most of the time filler would just create plot holes or inconsistencies.
If there is any filler which I will miss its Gohan's extended training prior to the Vegeta and Nappa arriving, the Other World Tournament and Goku and Piccolo learning how to drive. All the other filler in the original show will not be missed.

x4 Things actually happened in Dragonball Z's first arc. Also, it didn't waste 9 episodes constantly going back to " Titans Saiyans are baaaaaad!"
Speaking of Frieza, he's way better than that nerd, Cooler. It took rewatching the Cooler special on Toonami to make me realize this.

"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."Honest to God (or Kami or King Kai or whoever) I don't think Kai really delivered that much on its promise. The final battle with Freiza vs Goku was still a chore to watch even with the episode count cut in half. But DBZ probably isn't a show that anyone should marathon through. Something I love about the Abridged series aside from being a hilarious parody it takes itself just seriously enough to work as an alternative to the actual show that actually does cut down all the crap and cleverly compresses the filler to cutaway gags and ends up doing exactly what Kai tried to do and becomes a much better version of both DBZ and DBZK.
The actual filler in DBZ is super hit or miss, some of it is fun (Goku and Piccolo learning to drive cars, Gohan's training with Piccolo, Goku in Heaven/Hell) some of it's terrible (The Fake Namekians, Bulma vs Giant Crab)
It should be noted that, while the cast was primarily the same for Kai's dub, they all sounded very different. Sabat's Piccolo for example is just his "normal voice" but a little deeper, the same kind of voice he uses for Zoro in OP and Elfman in FT. He lost that gravelly, growly voice he used to use for Piccolo.
There's also Eric Vale's Future Trunks. In Kai he made Trunks sound way too angry. I honestly have to wonder if he took the "Future Trunks is John Connor" thing to heart and based his new voice for F Trunks off of Christian Bale's version of the character in Terminator Salvation. I've not seen the movie but I've been told he does a lot of his "Bale Batman" there and Vale's new Trunks sound a lot like the horrible Bale Batman voice to me.
Clinkenbeard is just not a good Eighteen. That's really all there is to it. She makes DBZ's only vaguely good female character sound generic as all hell. I really don't understand why she didn't just go with her "strong emale voice" that she uses for Erza and Inner-Moka. I still would have preferred Meredith Mc Coy but anything is better than the voice Ms. Clinkenbeard chose.
At the end of the day, this is the only truth: Dragon Ball's dub is better than DBZ's or Kai's.
Kent Williams' Mercenary Tao seemed to be channeling Master Pain/Betty. Also Brice' Armstrong's awesome grandfatherly voice was perfect for the Narrator Also Sabat's King Piccolo voice is his best voice ever in DB.
And last but not least, Nadolny's Kid Goku actually made me like the character of Goku, who I had kinda loathed up until this point. He's just so much fun and so lovable.
'In the end, Freezer was cooler, and Cooler was Freezer."

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I mean, the most annoying filler was the stuff where people would talk about fights instead of fights actually happening.
And powering up sequences that lasted entire episodes.
...And a lot of that shit was in the manga.
Am I really the only person that legitimately loved the Great Saiyaman saga and wouldn't change a damn thing about it?

As a consequence of Dragon Ball having loads of video games, many of these actors have been playing these same roles for a long time. It's not like Sean Schemmel, for example, played Goku once 30 years ago and then has never touched the role since and is now rusty and terrible at being Goku; he's been Goku pretty consistently in many, many performances since then and now. He's got Goku down to an art form.
So yes, it's Nostalgia Filter.
