Which level?

His second form? His third? His true form? His true form at 50% of his power?

Golden Frieza? Fully mastered Golden Frieza? A hypothetical God powered Ultra Instinct Kaioken Golden Frieza?

Ack. Chichi's voice is worse than Goku's. I guess they were all chosen back in the days before competent voice actors were a thing.

Wait, this isn't a recap episode is it? Why are they actually spending the time to explain the things we learned in the last episode?

Also, why did Goku get dumber? Did he get dropped on his head again?

There's no reason for Karrot to act smart...any and all urgency due outside forces are completely gone.

No they have to make the plot happen.

You might as well get used to Goku being dumber. It's truer to Toriyama's vision of the character or something.

Goku suffered flandarization cause apparently Toriyama's vision of the character is a dimwitted man child who can't think complex thoughts despite all the maturity & intelligence he showed in Z.

[up] Indeed its some bullshit like that.

Third episode. The first half was recap, now Goku is going around picking up Buu and Piccolo. Pretty boring, but nothing stupid so far except the voice acting.

Wait, Toriyama actually thinks this is how Goku is supposed to be? I thought he just caved to the popular perception of the character.

It says a lot about Toriyama's vision that he only came up with it well after he was done writing him.

I mean, oftentimes, writers see a character one way, and write them another, but to purposely derail your own character is very odd.

He claims Goku is not a hero, but a selfish guy who mostly fights for himself, but he often had Goku opt to help people right in front of him (and I'm not talking about Filler either, because he did it for both Suno's village and Upa when Bora was killed).

But kid Goku was naive and ignorant, not stupid.

Why is Champa fat and Beerus isn't? Beerus seems to be constantly eating.

^ I think that has to do with the Japanese idea of heroism. Goku doesn't go around seeking wrongs to right.

Edit: Oh the recap is continuing. What the hell.

He didn't like anime filler or movies or something making Goku out to be a "hero" so he decided to course correct or something.

That, and it's been like 30 years and he honestly has forgotten a lot, so he might actually have forgotten how he wrote the character himself, though that's just speculation on my part.

Maybe Beerus is just lucky?

As for how Toriyama views him, maybe somebody should pull up an interview just to get confirmation and all.

There are plenty to choose from.

He made him so immature.

How he kept pestering Whis like a child & wouldn't just wait 5 minutes for the guy to finish eating makes you fall into disbelief that this is supposed to be a 40 year old man.

It definitely is possible he forgot how much development changed Kakarrot, he hasn't written the character for a long time and he's still not directly writing the character.

And he did kinda just make it up as he went along.

And he's not adverse to tossing out plot points or just ignoring them to make the story goes as he wants it either.

And more recap. Why? Why is the third episode of the season already being spent on recap? The Freeza/BOG stuff isn't particularly relevant and the current season doesn't need recap at all when there's only been two episodes so far.

Skipping through this.

Well, I guess it's probably unlikely that I'll be getting all the way through this series.

I thought you watched the movies to skip those arcs?

I did. I'm on the Champa arc. They spent like five minutes recapping BOG anyway. And yet they can't be bothered to explain who Jaco is.

Beerus has a fast metabolism, I guess.

And yes, there is a wholly pointless recap episode in the tournament arc. I remember seeing it on Toonami some weeks back.
