Maybe don't put the old man whose power level should only be 139 in the tournament for the fate of the universe, then.
Sure, maybe they need to make up the numbers, but if only... if only they had someone large, rotund, and pink on their roster to fill things out, you know?
On another note about Plague, maybe my opinion is just colored by him being brought onto the Super Best Friendcast every now and again, usually just to talk about Dragon Ball Super, mostly to the tone of "Hey, Plague, we don't watch it.We're not gonna watch it. How shitty is it?" "OH MAN, LEMME TELL YOU HOW STUPID JIREN VS. GOKU IS."
But I don't wanna import drama, so that's where I'll leave it.

Well Roshi has no business there anyway.
If they didn't keep play the Buu falls asleep card or the Goten? Trunks? Never heard of them! card, they could have had one of them.
Though the existence of Kalfa might explain not bringing those two in. They wanted to focus on the newer fusion.
Edit: Murasaki'ed.
Leave it to someone born in a sharknado to beat me to it. Nothing good ever comes from a Sharknado.

One Strip! One Strip!
x4 If Goku and Vegeta are actually occupied with other fights, the weaker characters can fight.
One way to make the tournament make more sense is to turn it into a cold war. Universe 11 and Universe 7's top fighters aren't completely sure who might win, so they're mostly abstaining from fighting seriously until one side is forced to make a move. Doesn't work if Jiren is so strong that no-one is a threat, though.
That's even worse, abandoning Gotenks to focus on a new fusion

I've actually said the same thing, and I'm down for this. This is why Toriyama needs to stop keeping the number of villains so low, so that stuff like that can happen, and he can do more with his other characters besides have them get stomped in order to show how strong the newest dude (who's scaled to around Goku/Vegeta's level) is.
Edit: Even as someone who's ok (far more ok than I should be) with Roshi being here, no amount of normal training could get him up to that level.

One Strip! One Strip!@Saiga: Yea, but how else are going to establish Jiren as being a credible threat if both him and the protag that's meant to surpass him are sandbagging. And yea sure, Jiren can still be strong while sandbagging but then that devalues basically every other participant but Goku and Jiren.
In any case, I feel like the reactions to and the present problems with Super have always been in the franchise to some extent, but now they're exacerbated by outside factors to the point where they can no longer be ignored unless you completely throw out your suspension of disbelief.
To that end, I see it as the following; MST3K Mantra, it's just a show at the end of the day and while not pointing out it's obvious flaws would be wrong, it's still meant to be enjoyed as a medium above anything else. OR you can try to make heads or tails of all of this shit and pull your hair out doing so. Being a 24 year old adult with a minimum wage job, I will opt for the former as it's easier on me.
That said, these problems DO hamper my enjoyment of a series I otherwise like lol.
EDIT: This thread moves way too fast lol.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Jiren established himself as a tool.
Fucking hate One Punch Jiren as I've dubbed him. He's a dumb plot device.
Worst of all, when the To P inevitably gets added to Xenoverse 2 I'm utterly dreading having to fight him. Because Corrupted Zamasu was a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch and Jiren is at least 100x stronger than that poncy godling.

Why would they add the Tournament of Power to Xenoverse 2? That's 65+ new characters, even without factoring in the new Hakaishin. I'm betting that the 80 fighters in the Tournament of Power are going to be the entire roster of Xenoverse 3, which will be completely centered around it. Well, maybe not Xenoverse 3, but some future game will be entirely focused on the TOP.

I very, very, very much doubt they'd put every single TOP fighter in.
Whether it's as Xenoverse 2 DLC or Xenoverse 3, I sincerely doubt we'll get anyone except Caulifla, Kale, Jiren, Toppo, Roshi, and Ribrianne. Maybe Dyspo, Maji=Kayo, Obuni, Bergamo, and Damom (depending on the latter's importance), if they really want to go nuts and give us at least one fighter from each participating universe.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I think maybe a third of the new characters in the Tournament of Power could be great playable characters for a video game, like Dyspo, Lavanda, and Monna. Another third would be characters that were eliminated before we got to see enough of them fighting to even put them in a game, like Sorrel and Vikal. The final third is characters who haven't done anything yet, like Paparoni and Damon.
We've got two current fighters, XV 2 and Fighter Z. Fighter Z will always focus on a smaller roster of characters, and it's clear they don't want to have a disproportionately large amount of Super content. So most of the interesting picks will be left out, as characters with higher focus and popularity make it in the limited number of Super spots that are available (even after DLC expansion).
XV 2/3 will add more, but doesn't have the combat depth or variation to make the more unique characters work. So they'll probably add the characters who are easiest to fit - making it similar to Fighter Z, starting with Jiren, Kafla etc, with just a greater number of characters but normal-ish body types and little variation.
So no, I don't think we'll see a large chunk of the TOP rendered into a fighting game. Large rosters and character variation are always at odds with each other.
Will any character get teleport spam like in Tenkaichi 2-3?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Yeah, out of all the fighters in the tournament, I can probably only see the following make it into Xenoverse 3 (italicized characters being a maybe):
- Ribrianne
- Rozie
- Kakunsa
- Jimmies
- Maji=Kayo
- Catopersa
- Damon (with a Gamisaras alt)
- Ganos
- Majora
- Monna
- Caulifla
- Kale
- Kafla
- Saonel
- Pirina
- Master Roshi
- Bergamo
- Basil
- Lavender
- Obuni
- Napapa
- Jiren
- Toppo
- Dyspo
- Kahseral
- Kunshi
They could also add the Gods if they want to recreate the Manga's preliminary tourney. They'd be easier to impliment since they already have some moves and assets from Heroes.

The rest are weaker than Blue Goku because people aside from Goku and Vegeta want to have fights. Who will fight Roshi and Piccolo if everyone is godly?
