I'm guessing the big finish for 3 will be a focus episode with 18 & 17 taking on/down Paparoni (what with the vague mad scientist / robotization connection there), ending with him gone, Universe 3 gone, but one or more likely both of them knocked out as well.
With him being the one controlling all the mechanical fighters in his universe, I wonder if my wild theory about there being a Dr. Ichigaki-style mini-story there might have some merit after all.

They've already done this with Roshi and the humans, acting like skill is enough to make up the difference. Goku's attacks shouldn't even harm Caulifa if she just sat there and let him wail on her. At the same time, Toei doesn't really portrayed the differences between transformations as large as they should be, as seen with the forms used in this episode. It's usually only the debut of a new form that you can count on the power-up being a big deal.
Anyway, this episode is part of what makes me doubt that "Saiyan Beyond God" is universally accepted among the writing staff - surely that would be less stamina draining than using 2 or especially 3 if he's trying to recover power. On top of that, the writers have no problem with making Goku perform on a level similar or better to his Super Saiyan forms, which is no surprised from Toei's previous works.
There's also the fact that Goku was having trouble against Kale's berserk form before even in SSJB, but now can hold both her and Caulifa off in SSJ 2.
Consistency, thy name is Toei.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Oh please, Goku sandbagged like hell in every single tournament in Dragon Ball (how else could you get discrepancies like Goku vs Krillin then Goku vs Tien, or Goku vs Tien then Goku vs Piccolo Jr.), he, and everyone else, was sandbagging during the tournament in the Buu Saga, he was sandbagging against Uub during End of Z, he was sandbagging during the last fucking tournament in Super (see Goku vs Frost then Goku vs Hit where Base Goku was actually capable of hitting Hit); hell, he probably would have sandbagged during the Cell Games if Cell wasn't the only person fighting.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!![]()
Because didn't need to use his full power against those opponents :V Notice how in all of those matches you posted, Goku wins in all of them. Why would he use power when he get by just fine with a lower level?
It's kinda different from here when Goku is pretty obviously on the ropes, but continues to hold himself back to create artificial tension.

No no see, Caulifa is still holding back even as we speak.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yes, because Goku was clearly losing that badly against Kale, considering the fact he got right back up like nothing had happened beyond dropping to base, and went to fight the Pride Troopers immediately after Jiren had dealt with Kale. Hell, the after-effects of Ultra Instinct have so far been the only time where Goku has been exhausted like this during this entire tournament.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!I mean, Kale tanked a SSJB Kamehameha and manhandled him afterward. And now she can't touch Goku while he's exhausted and only using SSJ 2 while tag teaming with somebody else?
So let's break this down:
Exhausted Base Goku > SSJ 2 Caulifa = Exhausted SSJ 2 Goku > SSJ 2 Caulifa + SSJ Kale
BUT
SSJ Kale > SSJB Goku.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Goku did nearly die after having the Spirit Bomb exploding in his face, and was completely on the ropes after fighting Jiren.
It could be possible Goku revived a Zenkai boost from all that once Frezza healed him, ratcheting up his power by a few points. But it's a bit of a stretch.

I don't care if she's a Legendary Super Sandwich, this is just completely ridiculous.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!So let's break this down:
Exhausted Base Goku > SSJ 2 Caulifa = Exhausted SSJ 2 Goku > SSJ 2 Caulifa + SSJ Kale
BUT
SSJ Kale > SSJB Goku.
Lol wut :V
It's kind of the consequence of Toei "living in the now" and trying to make big moments without considering how they should tie into later events.
"Gotta make Berserker Kale have an impressive debut, so lets have her squash SSB Goku."
"Oh, but now Goku needs to get back in his groove after losing to Jiren. Time for Kale and Caulifla to job simultaneously."

Maybe don't assume Berserker Kale is as strong as SSB Goku then? Is that too much of a stretch?
You really do have to ask after this episode if Goku was even trying against her in their previous fight.
And judging how she got one-shotted by Jiren, whereas Goku fought him in Blue for a while....

Can someone post that calendar again? I wanna see the characters on it.
Damn Kafla has been in the opening this entire time, now that is impressive. Should be interesting in what this leads too.
