Because he was technically half a Namekian. The Nameless Namekian was considerably stronger before he purged his evil half and became God.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Well, if that good thing is better than the garbage they're trying to force now....who cares?
I'll take 20 Frieza episodes over 20 episodes dedicated to Kale/Caulifla, who aren't even half as interesting as Frieza.
Yet they're being pushed harder than Hit for some reason.
Girl Super Saiyans.
That's all there is too it.
If there had been any attempt to have some female saiyans earlier in the franchise, Caulifa and Kale would be nothing to look at, but as it is, they are a big deal.
One Strip! One Strip!
Indeed.
He got the climax fight of the Universe 6 Arc, he beat Vegeta's ass like a conga drum, developed respect for Goku, grew as a fighter & he even got his own little mini-arc where he fights Goku for real with nothing held back.
So yeah he's gotten pushed & even then he's a good showing in this arc as his teams MVP & going down like a beast towards Jiren.

Hit got less eliminations than Cabba, Kale, and Caulifla. He then proceeded to pointlessly fight Jiren in an attack that essentially amounted to nothing. Except his team "learning" that Jiren was not one to be trifled with, but they all already knew that anyway, so Hit kind of just screwed his team over for no reason.
Jiren also specifically calls Hit someone he has to deal with. Saying it was stupid of hit to try and deal with him (it wasn't) is moot since Hit was someone Jiren was going to go after either way.
But considering the nature of this tournament, saying it's pointless to try and deal with your sides biggest obstacle to surviving makes no sense.

Why was King Piccolo so weak anyway? Even after he was rejuvenated he was far below even an ordinary civilian Namekian. And given that he was somehow both a Namekian and a demon, you'd think that'd make him stronger...
