You know I had been on some other forums about Dragon Ball and one of them brought up an interesting point about the writing of the the current arc. In Dragon Ball, Toriyama does kind of flesh out some of the combatants in the tournament even if we don't see some of them in later arcs but the Otherworld tournament arc and the current tournament arc, we only see a few characters get fleshed out and explored. That isn't to say that some of the characters don't have interesting designs, it just some of characters don't really get fleshed out but I could be wrong about that. Toriyama may not be greatest writers but he does flesh out a lot of his characters in tournament arcs as well as the series in general. With that of the way, It kind of makes you wonder how involved Toriyama is the anime series and how much Toei is writing the series?
"Mai waifu."I thought that it was fairly obvious that Toei and Toyotaro had more or less taken over the series?
Like, there was even a post about Toriyama only giving the vaguest of descriptions to Toei as to what was happening in Resurrection F
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeFair Enough. That is why I really wish they stuck with the traditional tournament format as it would had been much easier and they can justify getting rid of certain characters. Most of the fighters are just fodder and only a few fighters get any kind of focus. If Dragon Ball Super intends to last longer, it needs to really flesh its setting and characters.
"Mai waifu."Ranfan, Giren, and Panput got about as fleshed out as most fighters in the Tournament of Power. Aside from those three, the rosters for all three Tenkaichi Budokais were either major recurring characters, major new characters, or Nam.
Really, I don't know how this "the previous tournaments fleshed out their characters" complaint is supposed to make any sort of sense. Of all the new one-off characters introduced in the old tournaments, 3/4 got about as much development as most of the Tournament of Power fighters.

The biggest issue is the 10 fighters per team stipulation.
Reduce the number of fighters, and that leaves more room to flesh out other characters, and make their fights interesting.
Reducing the number of fighters could also allow for a standard tournament format, instead of a battle royal. 80 fighters is too much for anything other than a battle royal.
Hmm... what do you think the teams would look like after you trimmed them down?
Here's my thinking:
U2: Brianne, Sanka Ku, Su Roas, Jimizu, Zirloin
U3: Nigrisshi, Narirama, Maji Kayo, Biarra, Katopesra
U4: Ganos, Monna, Majora, Darkori, Nink
U6: Hit, Cabba, Caulifla, Kale, Frost
U7: Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, #17
U9: Bergamo, Lavenda, Basil, Chappil, Hop (basically, the Trio de Dangers plus any two others)
U10: Murichim, Rubalt, Obuni, Napapa, Lilibeu
U11: Toppo, Jiren, Dyspo, Kahseral, Kunshi

No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!Since tomorrow we’re getting Mentor Vegeta episode has it ever been said why Vegeta never used the Dragonballs to bring back U7 Saiyans? Like even before he fully became a good guy, he never bothers after Freeza is killed and he basically has full run of Earth for 3 years with literally no one in his league since Goku was lost in space.
Do you know what people want the most? Something somebody else has.Vegeta as a villain didn't care for his people are individuals, just as a general group. Vegeta now could try to bring back his race, but the Super Dragonballs are the only way they could come back
- Earth Dragonballs: Can bring back an individual dead more than a year. So he could wish back Raditz and Nappa, but if he tries to wish back his dad he'll appear in the vacuum of space
- Namekian Dragonballs: Can bring back people any amount of times, but not if they've been dead longer than a year. So all the other Saiyans are out of the running
Why would Vegetarian's dad appear in space with the Earth's balls?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.
