No, they say Universe 6 loses him. Not that he lost.
It sucks, but it is what it is, The Worf Effect is too real.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. The way people apply it The Worf Effect has basically become as useful as Mary Sue.
How does Hit being defeated by Jiren mean he's being worfed when it's already established that Jiren can handle someone way stronger than Hit? It's not worfing for a character that has already been established to be stronger than basically everyone else to actually beat other people.
They're supposed to be eliminating each other in this tournament. That's not a "Dragon Ball thing" it's an obvious thing. Stronger characters beat weaker characters. How shocking and illogical.

Boo at Hit going down to the doorstop that is Jiren even if we all knew it was coming. Hopefully he puts in some work before the inevitable.
My Megaman and MegaTen RPG LiveblogsI kinda gotta agree here. At the very least Hit established his power before hand, which makes him losing to Jiren, who just defeated a powered up version of the guy Hit struggled with (and arguably hasn't officially beaten) believable, especially since Dyspo showed how to beat the time skip too.
The Worf Effect is for when a character who is supposed to be strong (or considered strong by the narrative) does nothing but get beat, thereby making their strength an Informed Ability. Hit hasn't really done that.
In fact, Jobber would probably be a more appropriate term for what we are talking about, and even that doesn't match completely.

One Strip! One Strip! And ya know, fans always treat characters who lose as a Memetic Loser.
If you lose, you're considered a jibber and loser for life. Its Second Place Is for Losers applied to the entire medium. People mostly favor winners.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Pretty much. I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do to make the story work, but it can still be frustrating for fans of a character to watch their favourite always lose, and then see other people latch on to that and rip on them at every opportunity.
And I'm not just saying this in regards to everyone's favourite desert bandit either. It can happen in a lot of series when characters tend to lose a lot, especially if their considered main characters.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()

I thought the Worf Effect was when a character established as super strong is beaten by the new hotness to show off how much of a threat they are. That would be separate from being a "Worf", where its done so much to one character they lose their credibility.

Should hero winners be considered...overrated?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.![]()
That still wouldn't apply here; Everyone else here is weaker than Goku with Ultra Instinct, whom Jiren still fought evenly with and won out over. Having Jiren beat characters weaker than that (i.e. everyone) doesn't show him as being even stronger.
And if the The Worf Effect is "strong character beats strong character to show strength" it's still pretty worthless as a trope, even if it is being used right.

And the only two universes we saw anything of beyond 6 and 7 either.
Judge not, lest ye be judged my friend. Or rather, laugh not when someone's fave gets beaten, lest you be laughed at when your fave is beaten.
Not that I can blame you, but still.

One Strip! One Strip!

To be fair, it should be a surprising considering the kind of series that this is. It was only a matter of time before Hit loses to a new rival to establish how strong the rival is.
"Mai waifu."
