Makes sense, given how incredibly obscure the Dragon Ball franchise is.
And then Zeno's Bodyguards, then Zeno, then the Omni-Go Ds, then the Omni-Angels, the Omni-Grand Priest...
It was so satisfying to see Belmod/Vermouth/However-the-hell-we're-spelling-his-name/Clown-god panicking. He's been so smug up to now... not without good reason, it seems. Jiren's power is everything we've thought it would be.
Even the Grand Priest looked surprised at this turn of events. Up to now that calm smile has been frozen on his face, but this seemed a bit much even for him. And have we ever seen Whis this... excited before?
Guess that means Goku has finally attained power on par with the Gods of Destruction. Anyone else sensing a rematch with Beerus on the horizon?
I'm also a bit surprised that Freeza so willingly gave up energy for the Spirit Bomb when Vegeta did not. Good on Vegeta to watch Goku's back during the charge-up though. Ribrianne could have ruined things there.

Give
these
Animators
gold medals, including Naotoshi's Shiida's best work in any anime yet.
Toei's best animators are definitely some of the best in the business, even if they aren't used often enough and are always rotated with the Phillipines staff all the time.
The above gifs are proof.

Watch SymphogearI totally called Goku fighting Ribrianne in "base" and then going straight from "base" to Super Saiyan Blue. His kick in Blue didn't even seriously damage her. We also had Goku powering down from God into "base" before transitioning to Blue against Jiren, so.
Looks like nobody is thinking of using the wish to bring back all the defeated universes. Goku vs Jiren stops the tournament and all the other fighters watch.
This fight animation is AWESOME. Krillin confirming fan theories about Super Saiyan and the Spirit Bomb.
Jiren: "Hit me as hard as you can."
Oh no, they turned the Spirit Bomb into a black hole and Goku fell in to it. Killing yourself doesn't eliminate anyone who aided the process. Looks like the three U3 robots who I suspected might be able to combine might be able to if they're challenging Jiren. Beerus is really broken up about Goku's apparent loss.
While it does fit, I was a tad disappointed that they only used Blue's theme song for the appearance of Goku's new form. Didn't expect them to re-use the opening's animation for Goku's new form fighting Jiren. The other gods are freaking the fuck out at Goku achieving Mastery of Self-Movement/Ultra Instinct (if that's what they want to call it...).
So, looks like I was kind of right. They didn't really explain Goku's new form. Well, they kind of did. They explained that Goku was running off of the power absorbed in the Spirit Bomb, which somehow triggered Goku using Ultra Instinct, but they didn't actually explain how Goku got that ability or how the Spirit Bomb triggered it. It also looks like getting that power back is going to be Goku's main drive for the rest of the tournament.
Freeza's totally going to give Goku some power.

My prediction: Goku gets the form back but is still beaten by Jiren because he's not allowed to beat major antagonists anymore and Jiren is stupidly overpowered. Universe 11 wins but then Jiren wishes for the rest of the universes back out of respect for Goku.

This song needs more love.Alright! I've been waiting to use this joke for a while now:
Jiren! Some people hear him! Some people fear him!
Jiren! Some people just won't go near him!
<Ducks a brick>
Eh. It was for the best. I didn't have anything past those first few lines.
Anways, liked the fight, and liked the theme that played when Goku finally achieved his new form. Jiren is balls out insane though. When you can stop the Spirit Bomb with nothing more than a stern glare, you know you're overpowered.
...I laughed out loud when Krillin called the Spirit Bomb the Trump Card that always works, since it's worked a grand total of once, and only because Toriyama decided to use it when there were far better options.
One Strip! One Strip! So did I. In canon the Spirit Bomb's been used three times, and it only actually killed the target once. Otherwise it just weakened Vegeta and cut off Freeza's tail.
Well, you could maybe count the Spirit Sword as a use, in which case it killed the target's body, but not his spirit (irony, much?).
Has a better track record in the movies though.
...why are the odds of that tall? Why would random dudes being as powerful as Boo - one of the most powerful entities the universe has ever seen, who went unsurpassed for millions of years?
Freeza was known across the universe. Revealing that some planets just had a bunch of people way more powerful than him is very lazy writing - from the moment he was introduced, the characters who showed up stronger than him had reasons for it (the Androids were created after, Dabra is from Makai, Boo was sealed away while Freeza was active)
That kind of power is meant to be rare, and Universe 7 was already well charted out.
The other universes may have introduced a number of superpowerful dudes, but they did that for the sake of escalation and they never had any previous crossover to conflict with the series.
It cut off the tail that Freezerator grew back...
All said, it was as effective as Krillin's ki disk.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Man, I've never seen Whis this hyped up in ever! And Beerus definitely seems both excited and worried at the same time...
And if people were wondering how it was achieved, Goku fell into the Spirit Bomb black hole, where he absorbed some of it's power, but that's NOT what triggered his transformation. What triggered it was Goku NEEDING to power-up further than Blue Kaioken x20 so that he could survive the blast, otherwise he would have been vaporized like the Grand Priest thought he did. This process is what broke his limits, not fully absorbing the Spirit Bomb, but AVOIDING the Spirit Bomb... an Ultra Instinct.
So essentially, Ultra Instinct is Musou Tensei on god-roids.

They are finally up on crunchyroll. They didn't anticipate how much people wanted to watch the special, it seems.
