@ Vatek: The Heroes devs are Dimps, which makes me wonder... Why haven't they put a chunk of their Heroes content into Xenoverse? At the very least, the whole Demon Realm story arc would be neat to go through in Xenoverse 3.
Also, would it kill them to streamline the character roster? Either make transformations a skill or a separate character, doing both just makes everything feel disjointed.
Lack of time/demands from Shuiesha to focus on certain content. There is datamined material that shows a lot of what ifs that were intended in the game, like Rose Kaio-ken, Super Vegetto 2, Vegetto Kaio-ken, Gohan vs Demigra, etc.
Spike have said before that while western fans want GT, what-ifs and original stories, the Japanese fans want to focus on the original story and characters.
Heroes is successful, but it also has the collectible/gashapon aspect which is huge in Japan.
The success of Xenoverse has clearly made the developers more willing to experiment with more original stories, but they still have a focus on the original characters in the console games.
Actually, now that we're talking about video games, I wonder how Goku's new form will work. From the spoilers, it seems like Mastery of Self-Movement is basically Goku putting his body on autopilot, so how would that work in a gameplay context? Maybe Goku automatically Perfect Guards, dodges, and performs perfect combos with little-to-no player input?
For XV 3, it could be represented just with free stamina movement, like Blue Kaio-ken x10. Automatic may be too much of an Interface Screw for the player.
I mean, Fusions also gave us Towa and Mira getting involved in the story, Goku and Vegeta turning into both Super Saiyan 4 and Super Saiyan Blue for a side mission, Legendary Great Ape Broly as a boss, and Beerus knocking said Legendary Great Ape Broly away with one hit.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Having Mastery of Self-Movement be an Interface Screw might be good, actually, since the spoilers seem to imply that Goku is having a hard time figuring it out himself.
This is prolly just me being high off of listening to the SS 3 theme but its pretty damn awesome that Goku can always go even further beyond no matter what.
Yeah but you don't want it being so bad that it actually becomes more of a hindrance than a benefit, which is pretty common with Interface Screw.
Not for the player, but for the characters who used it. It will be in for Goku, even if it has to be DLC.
Of course, it could be in as a separate character rather than a transformation. I really hope they'd consolidate the forms and transformations, especially now that we have both the anime and manga showing SSG as a controllable form
I really hope XV 3 goes really crazy with the scenarios. XV 1 and 2 were mostly kind of nothing. Like oh look Raditz got a little stronger or oh no you have to fight Vegeta and Nappa as Oozaru. It's just a waste with all the characters and transformations that we never got something like Raditz turning SS in his fight against Goku and Piccolo. Or how about a timeline where Vegeta was actually loyal to Freeza. Or a timeline where Zamasu is the Supreme Kai of the universe with Goku Black as his God of Destruction. Turles, Goku Black, Bardock, Baby Goku, Ginyu Goku, and main Goku team up and form the League of Gokus. Go nuts!
Heck I want to see them go all out with different forms and transformations for every character and not just Broly (because you KNOW that SSGSS Broly is coming eventually). SS 3 Nappa, Golden Cooler, Armored Freeza, Cyborg King Cold, SS 4 Pan, Majin Trunks, SSGSS Gohan, there are so many possibilities just for different forms and all we got were purple tinted 'evil' versions of certain characters.

Do you know what people want the most? Something somebody else has.![]()
Yeah, I liked that. It was a clever way to cater to people who want the existing characters but still have relevance in the RF adaptation.
The problem with all these what-ifs if that they take nearly as much - or sometimes more - time as creating a new character. If 16 or Dodoria has to be cut to get us some what-if forms, I'd be happy with it. But fans call it 'a disgrace' not to have Freeza's second form in the game when it is super irrelevant to the game's premise.
Which I get the fanservice aspect, but have people ever legitimately used the middle forms for Freeza and Cell?
Buu I at least get since, hypothetically, the actual move style should be different for each of his three primary forms.
I don't necessarily see why they would need to cut out characters. We didn't lose any between Xenoverse 1 and 2, not even the DLC characters, so it doesn't seem like roster size or character balance is a huge issue to them.
Though we could probably just cut the Supervillainous alts. They're pretty pointless.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I get that it feels incomplete to have middle forms missing, but... I've played enough games that I no longer need the lower forms of Freeza and Cell in everything. I greatly prefer Imperfect Cell to Perfect, but at this stage I am prepared to just cut down to final form Freeza and Cell.
The models and animations have to be different enough that you could create an entirely new character for each form you would add. Unless there was a specific focus on Z, and the transformations were easy to use (like the Budokai series), I don't want them.
There is such a big divide between 'introduce fresh content' vs 'complete the old material' because you can't have both to the extent people want. And since extensively covering the old material is likely to come at the expense of gameplay (there is so much to cover) I can do without it.
Speaking hypothetically and about the move from XV 1 to 2. XV 2 added Zarbon, Dodoria, 16, Nail and Imperfect Cell when I think XV 1 covered enough of the original without them and could have instead added something new.
XV 2 still doesn't have Freeza's middle forms and I'd dislike if 3 created models for those over something new.
XV 2 was also a punched up version of 1, so they could easily bring over the existing characters. They mentioned they wanted to do more for 3, if they created it. If they made significant changes then it might require updating the existing characters, leading to cuts. It's why the Budokai games dropped characters in every instalment.

For a fighting game like Fighter Z yeah stuff like that is completely pointless, but for a game like Xenoverse which has freaking Appule, then there’s no reason Imperfect Cell, Second Form Freeza, or even Evil Buu shouldn’t be playable.
Do you know what people want the most? Something somebody else has.

That sounds like Fire Emblem.
