A tradition for every new Dragon Ball game on a New Console...?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.![]()
What tradition? Since 2004 practically every Dragon Ball fighting has gone from the Saiyan Arc to the Buu Arc and beyond (i.e. GT and Movies) Only Burst Limit and Budokai 1 ended at the Cell Arc.
Honestly, I'm praying this is Budokai Tenkaichi 4. But I doubt it...

That's the tradition.
The first PS 2 DBZ Fighting game, Budokai 1, ends at Cell.
The first PS 3 DBZ Fighting game, Burst Limit, also ends at Cell.
The first PS 4 DBZ Fighting game has to end at Cell. It's tradition. Then there will be sequels that add Buu, and then the movies, and then possibly GT/DB if they feel generous, and then the first PS 5 DBZ game will cut all of that out and end at Cell.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Well, it's not a very good tradition. In fact, if they follow it, it'll be a no-buy from me because roster reduction is completely fucking pointless.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerIt makes sense for a game made on a new console. They can't just port over the last game and then add a few new guys and mechanics to it, they have to start the entire thing over from scratch.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.But the first Dragon Ball game for the new a console (Play Station 1), Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 (Which is fucking terrible), didn't end at the Cell Arc did it? So this "tradition" is just pure coincidence.
In other Dragon Ball Video Game related news, Battle Of Z (Remember that game?) shipped 620000 copies worldwide
, that's more than what Raging Blast 2 shipped! That's a pretty impressive number considering how underwhelming the game is.

From what I've heard from people that have played the game it's actually a lot of fun, but it really needs online to shine so I don't think I'll be trying it out myself with my poor internet.
Interested in seeing what this new game is like. I won't mind if it ends at Cell because as much as I like the Boo arc characters and forms the more you cover the less work each part will receive.
Although, really, I'm just hoping that the Dragon Ball Online classes will be playable.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI don't remember them even having names beyond 'Male Fighter' and 'Female Martial Artist'. Dragonball Online was a failure, everything about that game is going to wither and it's a damn shame.
Then again, Dragonball Heroes is going into SSJ 3 Trunks/Broly/Frieza what-if territory, so maybe they'll take something from DBO.

With customization, of course. :p
I imagined my fighters as having kind of unique styles and I want to choose unusual combinations of special moves to reflect that.

I would say he's a custom character, yes. That alone will probably draw me into buying it, because I really really want a satisfying CaC. Ultimate Tenkaichi's version was a good start, but it's a long way off what it could be.
I also hope we get an indepth story mode. Even though Budokai 1 is over a decade old we still haven't had cutscenes like it.
(x5) Dragon Ball Online had great classes. There was so much diversity and variety in that game that it makes it all the more sad that got shut down last year and was never released outside of Asia.
As far as the classes go, this was how it was structured in Dragon Ball Online:
- The Human Races (Male or Female):
- Martial Artist - Warriors that specialize primarily in martial arts rather than utilizing their ki. Being a primarily melee class, Martial Artists generally focus on delivering damage within short range of their opponents. Wolf Fang Fist, Rock, Scissors 'N' Paper, Concentrated Kamehameha, Energy Barrage are in the Martial Artist skill tree
- Fighter - An advanced version of a Martial Artist
- Sword Master - Pretty self explanatory
- Spiritualist - Mystics that specialize in spiritual, ki-based techniques and bleed damage. Krillin's Destructo Disk, the Kamehameha, and Yamcha's Spirit Ball in the Spiritualist skill tree.
- Turtle Hermit - An advanced version of a Spiritualist and are equipped with rods to fight
- Crane Hermit - An advanced version of a Spiritualist and are equipped with fans to fight
- Engineer - Mechanics and inventors who build weapons and utilize technology.
- Gun Maniac - An advanced version of Engineer that can create weapon machinery
- Mech Maniac - An advanced version of Engineer that can create giant robot
- Martial Artist - Warriors that specialize primarily in martial arts rather than utilizing their ki. Being a primarily melee class, Martial Artists generally focus on delivering damage within short range of their opponents. Wolf Fang Fist, Rock, Scissors 'N' Paper, Concentrated Kamehameha, Energy Barrage are in the Martial Artist skill tree
- The Namekian Races (Male only, duh):
- Dragon Clan - Members of the Namekian support caste which have abilities that pertain to magic, such as Kami. Antenna Beam, Energy Cannon, Energy Bullets, Super Energy Bullets, among various healing buffs are part of the Dragon Clan skill tree.
- Dende Priest - A master class with more powerful healing abilities
- Poko Priest - A master class that grants them summoning abilities to bring forth monsters that do their bidding, similar to King Piccolo.
- Warrior - Warriors balance weak, long-raged spiritual attacks and average physical attacks, but may later learn more powerful skills. The Warrior class and its master classes excel in high defense. Piccolo's Masenko, Charged Masenko, Special Beam Cannon, Mystic Attack, Mouth Energy Wave are a part of the Warrior skill tree. Warriors are balanced with decent strength, stuns and long-range energy attacks.
- Shadow Knight - The Shadow Knight sub-class utilizes axe weapons and can deliver critical, long-ranged "area-of-effect" spiritual damage.
- Dark Warrior - The Dark Warrior sub-class is comparable to Piccolo in the later arcs of Dragon Ball manga, and use Claw weapons, which grant them access to stronger physical skills than the previous Warrior class. Dark Warriors can additionally learn Piccolo's Hellzone Grenade, and Dragon's Punishment, which restores life points based on the percentage of damage dealt.
- Dragon Clan - Members of the Namekian support caste which have abilities that pertain to magic, such as Kami. Antenna Beam, Energy Cannon, Energy Bullets, Super Energy Bullets, among various healing buffs are part of the Dragon Clan skill tree.
- The Majin Races (Male or Female):
- Wonder Majin - Techniques used by Wonder Majins that have appeared previously in official media are Kid Buu's "Imitation" Kamehameha and Vanishing Ball, along with the Super Vanishing Ball variation; Super Buu's Galactic Donut and Human Extinction Attack.
- Plasma Majin - Increased strength in all department and wears a cool mask
- Karma Majin - Increased strength in all departments and has an orbitar
- Mighty Majin - Mighty Majins buffs pertain solely to defensive and have a balanced number of spiritual and physical attack, some with long range. These Majins have healing abilities that restore life-points and cure player effects like poison.
- Ultimate Majin - An advanced class that use musical instruments
- Grand Chef Majin - An advanced class that use clubs and food
- Wonder Majin - Techniques used by Wonder Majins that have appeared previously in official media are Kid Buu's "Imitation" Kamehameha and Vanishing Ball, along with the Super Vanishing Ball variation; Super Buu's Galactic Donut and Human Extinction Attack.
Just out of curiosity, which race and class would you choose?

My characters before the shutdown were a female Karma Majin and a Poko Priest.
(x4)
Majins. I saw a video where they were able to transform into a Kid Buu form. :)
(x8)
Well now that you mention it, I'd be amused if there's Character Creator that lets you select hairstyles for different races. Create a "Frieza Race" with SSJ 3 hair.

Yup, humans could go Super Saiyan, namekians could turn giant like Piccolo and Slug, and majins turned Pure. It got a bit weird if you were a female majin. :p
Apparently Pure Majins didn't have much control over themselves in-universe, either. I remember doing an early quest where I had to accompany someone to fight one that I think was going rogue – it wasn't translated at the time I did it. Of course, this didn't apply to you if you were one... getting the transformation from the Dragon Balls might have something to do with that.

I didn't get that far main-storywise. That quest I mentioned was just one of many, many sidequests.
The last update was, to my knowledge, another faction added to Miira's army — a mutated race of half-Perfect Cell-half-spider/scorpion things and they're exactly as disturbing as they sound.
