@Early Dragonball memories.
My cousin got me into the series. After we watched through the Freeza saga week to week, I found out he had a Japan-only game for his PS 1 (looking it up, I think it was Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu - he used that "spring" trick to get his PS 1 to play it) that clued us in on the existence of lots of characters and transformations years before they actually aired in the US, while we were busy watching reruns of Garlic Jr and still thought the Ocean Dub made sense.
Good times.

I think the meeting between Goku and Bardock in Supersonic Warriors 2 is a good example of how to do it (they put him inplace of Pikkon during the fight against Cell and Freiza.)
"You know, if we work together we could take over the afterlife"
"Sorry, Dad, but I'm not evil."
"Oh, okay, nice meeting you."
Or something like that, it's been years since I played the second game. I never really saw Bardock as evil, though. Killing planet populations was like a job to him. So I'd put him closer to Hit in terms of morality.

@Dragon Ball memories
I remember watching the Cell Game filler with my cousins at their house. Good Times.
@Dragon Ball reality
Dragon ball is a 'subversive' action series written by a gag manga author. I just have to learn to accept this and realize that the superhero series that grew up never existed.
@Goku's character
Sometimes I wonder if the writers realize that making Goku partially responsible for the universes being destroyed was a bad idea and tried to fix it like they 'fixed' everything else.
@Other characters
I am actually glad that Chiaotzu don't get any attention in this series considering how they handled every other character in Super.

"Mai waifu."Wait? Is that actually what they said to each other?
One Strip! One Strip!My first exposure to Dragon Ball was an episode of the Garlic Jr. arc that ends with his minions seemingly killing Krillin in front of Gohan and laughed about it. My mom was in the room at the time and commented "What an awful cartoon." -_-
It probably did not help that right before it (I think) had been an episode of Sailor Moon that had ended with one of the characters seemingly committing suicide with a magical BFG if I remember right.

My Megaman and MegaTen RPG LiveblogsI didn't really get into this series until.. middle school? Early high school? About 6 or 7 years ago. I know a little bit about the series because my friend was super into it, but besides playing the video games i didnt know anything.
and then i read the manga. which left me out of knowing all the anime filler and movies, but i knew who everyone was finally.
i've never been super huge into the series, but i binge dragon ball content every once in a while.
speaking of which, did goku get his new transformation yet?
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI still haven't seen most of the Dragon Ball and Z anime, in any of its incarnations or dubs.
So, random question, but when do you reckon Toriyama made the call to add Vegeta to the main cast? I feel like it had to have been pretty late in the Namek Saga, because earlier on he was still performing unquestionably villainous acts, like massacring that village, that you'd think would paint a big fat karmic bullseye on his back.
Vegeta was supposed to die at the end of the Saiyan Saga but his popularity was too high so Toriyama let him live into Namek. This is why he had to introduce Freeza, the PTO, and all of the associated retcons. Then he went ahead and killed Vegeta off anyway because Toriyama likes to be a dick sometimes.
Toriyama probably decided to include him in the main cast when he decided to spare him because of his popularity.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!@ Shulgo: The fucked up thing is that Bardock was similar to an SS Officer if we compare Frieza to Hitler. Except that Bardock is probably responsible for more direct deaths than Hitler's orders...man, kind of shows how much of an asshole Frieza is when Vegeta is redeemed and he's like five million Hitlers

It bugged the heck out of me when the guys just talked over the scene without reading anything, I thought they'd really get a kick out of that, considering its one of the few times where bardock was kept mostly in character.
And in the world of fiction genocide is alot easier to forgive, especially in a series where the main character isn't known to have problems with killing his villians. Atleast until he meets real scumbags, then he want's to give them multiple chances. Anyways Bardock was also shown to have more respect for his co-workers than Vegeta, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have blown up Toma if he had survived the fight with dodoria. So yeah, by DBZ standards he's about as evil as Tien or maybe Piccilo Jr.

Not it isn't. There was a special magazine or interview or something a couple years back (before Super) where Toriyama talked about that stuff and even had some new drawings. I saw the scan of the page. We all talked about it.

...I actually like Gine okay?
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!
