Yeah it was only 17 who got stronger.
Plus 18 was left out of all the strength comments Toshio was making because who cares about her?
I'm amazed Kuririn didn't have her drop out of the tournament to make sure she'd have dinner ready for when he got back. Then they'd have a free spot to bring back Namu as a fighter, who debuts to one-shot Vegetto until Toshio retcons it.

In regards to the whole Krillin/Frost thing:
I think Frost sucker punching Krillin was just meant to demonstrate how much of a Dirty Coward he is. As for him running away from #18, keep in mind he never fought her before so he didn't know how strong she was. I guess he didn't want to take any chances.
No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!
I could buy that. Considering the stakes, it's possible he's playing things carefully. He can't sense Ki anyway, but if he could, he'd have noted he couldn't sense 18's Ki, and that would make him cautious.
It's also likely that, after what happened with Goku, Vegeta, and even Piccolo (who did manage to get the drop on him and might have won if he hadn't cheated again) he's just being careful about anyone from universe 7 i.e. the universe that kicked his ass and wrecked his perfect system.
Or would you all rather prefer to just say it was just bad plotting? Cause that's also a fair assessment.
One Strip! One Strip!I mean 18 hasn't gotten much solo focus. Her episode was Krillin's focus episode. Whereas 17 got an episode more or less to himself. So I would say they're both being treated as heavy hitters, 17 has been the only one of the two that got to have a moment like the artificial sun thing all to himself.

I can't even think of all of the reasons why using a Spirit Bomb in this tournament is a bad idea.
Though as a point of note, apparently those spoilers are from 2chan so take them with a grain of salt.

This song needs more love.I know we can't trust the spoilers (even when they're real) but the way that was worded makes me expect that everyone thinks Freeza has betrayed them and then there's a twist where he hasn't actually done so and either faked it for some sort of plan or just to mess with them.
So he might end up gelping Gohan or something after pretending to betray them.
Yeah, but wouldn't betraying the team be the opposite of that?
Unless you mean from an out of universe perspective instead of an in universe one
In which case I'm torn. Freeza betraying everyone is obvious and shows just how insanely stupid the idea was, but Super always makes the characters look dumb and nothing will develop out of this blowing up in their face. So I half want Freeza to be helpful, just so that for once they don't look like insufferable morons for a decision they've made.

There hasn't been anything about 18 getting stronger the way 17 did, but she's being treated as upper-mid tier as far a strength goes.
