He only ever gives actual information relevant to the next episode or previous episodes, and he changes his information as the information available to us changes. That tells me that, while he may work on the show itself, they don't actually tell him much about their plans for future episodes.

He's valuable as a source of information and hype, but he can only be expected to be about as consistent about Power Levels as the show itself is on a week to week basis.

So in order words, don't take his words at face value.

Fact of the matter is, Super runs less on Power Levels and more on Power Tiers. There's a clear hierarchy (The Saiyans are still the strongest, with Goku being at the top), but the line is more blurred to allow the lower tiered characters to actually do something useful,

The problem is, it just means you can never actually get a true measure for anyone's strength as opposed to before as they're all as strong as what the plot demands of them. Yea, it's good as it allows a more varied cast, but it's really annoying when you can't pin point how strong someone is supposed to be.

Then you've got stuff like Frost apparently needing to cheap shot Kuririn and run away from 18 when he's meant to be stronger than Piccolo.

Just as a random example, because I don't think I saw that before.

You say 'needing' I say 'Frost is a dick who would just do that, regardless of how strong they are in comparison to him'.

So is anyone else aware of this?

Apparently its a campaign where people scream like Goku to get rid of their frustrations & shit.

I didn't take it that Frost "needed" to beat Krillin that way, but fleeing from 18 makes things complicated.

Again, what reason is there to assume that Piccolo is stronger than 18?

The fact that Kuririn was berated so much for letting his guard down, and that Frost ran away, makes it sound like he needed the cheap shot. It makes no sense for him to smoke bomb against a weaker opponent, or to berate Kuririn if his opponent was strong enough to take him out if he was on guard anyway.

I kind of took that as more of a shit on Krillin moment than anything else. And it seems in character for Frost to use dirty tricks even when he doesn't need to. He could have beaten Piccolo for real and yet he still resorted to his tranquilizer darts. Or am I misremebering that?

In the anime he does it because he's put in a tight spot, but then reveals he allowed that to happen so it's a wonder how necessary it was.

There's too much about the scene with Kuririn that doesn't make sense to assume anything but the writers forgot/ignored Frosts' strength because they wanted to make a point about Kuririn leaving himself open and thought Frosts' willingness to fight dirty suited their needs.

Eh, I only watched it once so it's not like it's fresh in my memory.

Characters carelessly letting their guards down isn't exactly rare in this tournament, so I'll buy it.

Well, that wasn't my point. My point was making the scene about Kuririn letting his guard down (which is what they make a big deal of) doesn't work if his opponent is someone where it wouldn't make a difference.

I mean, I suppose if he knew Frost was there he could try and escape or whatever.

I don't think Frost being stronger was the point, but rather that Krillin could have at least defended himself instead of getting cheap shotted. Losing while trying to succeed is a lot more reasonable than losing due to carelessness, which is why Krillin was berated...he was careless.

As for Frost running from 18...well, I just assume he's a dick and that's that.

[up][up] well, I guess that's true. With Super being way looser on battle powers I could see him successfully fleeing (instead of just being outsped ala Piccolo and third form Freeza).

[up] wouldn't attempting to eliminate 18 be more dickish?

Surely it would be, it brings a universe one step closer to elimination.

If he fights 18 head on he might lose, so he ran away to presumably set up his next cheap shot.

Yeah, but that makes little sense when he's stronger than Piccolo.

Although I guess he doesn't know how strong 18 is.

Seriously, I thought it was a thing that both 17 and 18 were around Buu's level now or something? Did that only apply to 17 and 18 hasn't gotten significantly stronger?

Yeah, 18 seems to be only slightly stronger than base Goku and Krillin right now. That rumor that they grew stronger over time due to their infinite energy generators was just that: a rumor. Neat idea, but 17 got as strong as he is by training on a remote island surrounded by wild animals and poachers for years.

That still doesn't really make much sense, but if that's what they're going with, okay.
