I can only assume he did it because it's a stupid joke.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Re-posting because I was bottom-paged hard, but we aren't even close to Namek-esque Arc Fatigue. The Namek arc lasted 79 episodes from the time Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma landed to Goku defeating Freeza. The Universal Destruction arc isn't even anywhere close to that, only 29 episodes so far, and the actual tournament has only gone on for 9 of those.

Would That Man Is Dead implicitly count for 17 & 18? (since they still go by their android numbers long after the Cell saga), or does someone need to actually outright say something like that to count?
Is what's her face a Saiya-jin?

Oh, her!! She's a positive character, I didn't know they were referring to her.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. This arc should've just been the exhibition match, with a few recruitment episodes (4-6, max). And those episodes should've only been for Krillin, Frieza, Gohan, and 17.
Screw the rest of the bums.
I still haven't seen all of the pre-tournament episodes because of the burn out. Well, that and being extremely busy with life stuff right now.
However, of those recruitment episodes: the problem Kuririn and Gohan had is they learned the same lessons they already had in previous episodes, it was ridiculous. Gohan! Kuririn! Get your fighting spirit back! Again! Super is really bad at following up on the developments it creates, which could be a symptom of the anime creating these things that aren't in the script.
I would actually be fine with recruitment episodes for everyone if they weren't so ridiculous and just plain bad.
Haven't seen the latest episodes yet, but didn't he let his guard down in the Tenshinhan one? That means he's also forgotten the other lesson Super tried to teach him.
It might just be one of the most frustrating things about Super, the Aesop Amnesia and the sheer amount of time they dedicate to it.
@Kytseo: I'm honestly not sure. I think that question would be better suited for the "Is this an example?"
thread.
Oh, and by my decree, the Krillin recruitment episode was one of the best of the arc so far. #comeatme
No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!
