If Angels go to sleep when their GoD dies, why are Mojito and Cus still active? Is it just the rules of the Tournament of Power's universe?

Did they ever say they actually "go to sleep"? I got the impression they just went back to wherever the Grand Priest lives and hang out until a new God of Destruction was selected.

But even if that's not true, this Tournament of Power is something that hasn't happened before, so the usual rules may not apply. The angels are being kept around for some reason, so maybe Zen'O or the Grand Priest altered how their dormancy works.

This does make me wonder what happened to the angels from the six erased universes from long ago. Were they erased along with their universes, or are they still around in some capacity.

I see no reason why 17 wouldn't use a barrier when the opportunity arises. He is supposed to just stand there and get hit by stuff cuz its getting old?

So should we make a drinking game out of how many times Goku drops his guard this arc?

This time was definitely on purpose. He even repeated 17s line about her style being worth studying.

[up]x4 False dichtomy. He could dodge, block, deflect, clash with his beams, etc.

And it's not an in-universe issue, it's a writing issue. The writers don't need to be creating situations where he uses his barrier every time he appears.

Like LSBK said, it's not even a move exclusive to 17, but they're continously having him spam it because it's iconic to him.

[up] you can hold back without dropping your guard. At least, Goku could before Super decided incompetence was one of his key character traits.

I mean, he's actually the only one in the team who has ever really used one, besides Frieza potentially. Goku has, but that was only in the Tree of Might movie.

I know you can hold back without dropping your guard. I'm sayin he realized there was no real danger of her knocking him out and just wanted to see what all she could do.

As to the barrier he has mostly used it against attacks coming from all around him so it would be a better option. Honestly he should just be sitting in the barrier all the time due to the nature of the tournament.

Let's play a game.

Take a shot for:

Every time someone "Let's their guard down"

A character spams a move that's iconic to them,

Goku uses SSJB.

REUSED ANIMATION

[up][up][up] his line doesn't mean he was never in danger and he doesn't dispute that he let his guard down, which is what we're shown.

Again, writing issue. 17 keeps being surrounded by attacks so he can use his barrier.

He's only used it (I think) four times so far, and three of those were against a single attack. First was Goku's Blue Kamehameha, second was some random attack in the action montage at the start of the tournament, third was to stop Kakunsa, fourth was for Goku here. I don't really have a problem with other characters using their moves as often as the Turtle School uses the Kamehameha.

I have a problem with people equating these moves with the KHH in the first place.

Which is also being majorly overused in Super anyway! Goku v Beerus, anyone?

You say that as if Goku hasn't only been using the Kamehameha throughout the entire series; hell, he's the only one who has never come up with their own original move unlike everyone else, unless you want to count the anime-only Dragon Fist.

I really don't see why it is a problem to reuse moves. Are they just expected to pull new moves out of their ass constantly? I'm sure there would be plenty of complaints still then.

You can strike a balance between the two.

Seriously, I get people thinking Goku is an idiot, but did they also think he actually sucked at fighting? That's the only explanation I can come up with for why anyone would think him constantly letting his guard down and being bailed out by other people makes sense.
