But they didn't...well okay, if it was a matter of not dying, it depended on the situation, but it was a matter of anything beyond not dying, they definitely failed.
Remember when Piccolo became even stronger than a Super Saiyan and had at least two opportunities to prevent an earlier threat? Remember how well he did?
One Strip! One Strip!I never said it's not true. It's just...you always talk about it like it's the worst thing ever Rob. And it makes me wonder how'd you get through the series if you hate the fact that nobody else has suffered from Can't Catch Up.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does....
I have no idea.
Edit: I suppose it stems from the fact that I only realized recently that aspect of the show. In my younger days I didn't get that Yamcha was a joke, that Piccolo would never accomplish anything, etc. I figured everyone was a bad ass who'd get their own awesome fights to show how cool they were.
I didn't know that ultimately, they were set up to fail in order to build up tension until Goku comes to save them all (sometimes not in time either). I didn't get that Dragonball is ultimately the story of Son Goku first and foremost. I thought it was the story of Son Goku and his buddies.

One Strip! One Strip!I mean, it's still about Goku and his friends. Just because Goku is stronger than all of them doesn't mean they don't contribute. And holding the line until Goku shows up is contributing, even if it doesn't put them in a favorable light.
It creates tension for when Goku can't make it in time. It's why the saiyan arc is so good, because you see characters you care about die left and right and the only person who can stop them is nowhere to be around.
THAT is still contributing.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I feel your pain in regards to Yamcha. I also would to go a step further to the whole series as well as everything is a joke even it shouldn't be. So much for my childhood........
I'm sure they joke out of love.
Anyway, here's the Tournament of Power current standings
if anyone was curious who's in/out.

Goku being taken out of commission is also kinda annoying, because it's still emphasizing that without him, everyone is fucked.
I mean, if he hadn't fallen to the heart disease, he'd have likely killed both 19 and 20 before the latter was even able to escape...hence why he got the heart disease.
Though I admit, there's no evidence of that, as Goku is as successful at preventing things form getting worse as the plot needs him to be.
One Strip! One Strip!Goku didn't need to be taken out of commission for Cell. He was useless all on his own.
This song needs more love.@Moth 13: What do those red "#[number]" next to some characters' names mean?
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.I think that just designates the order of elimination (so Lilibeau would be in 80th place).
Thanks to that one guy named Tupper I finally figured out the name puns for Toppo and Jiren just now (anagrams of "pot" and "range" - as in on a stove - as they would be pronounced in Japanese).
All the Sayian saga was 'wait for goku', Freeza pulled it twice, Android/Cell pulled it all the way to the start of the Cell Games, Buu pulled it twice although once they tried to subvert it but played it straight in the end.
They have been pulling that since the King Piccolo saga and its never going to stop, its the goku show.

Forgive me for bringing this up but as I have only watched DBS since 6 eps ago I just watched this:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xF1VdWg2P5A
So, GOKU IS SO LUNKHEADEDLY EVIL TO DOOM ALL THE UNIVERSES FOR A STUPID TOURNEY?!?
THE FUCK THAT'S ABSOLUTELY EVIL!
Reminding Zen'o of the tourney and not caring for the multiversal destruction is something that I'd expect of a complete monster, not a children's shonen hero. I mean WTF

Except for most of that Goku didn't actually save the day or fix all the problems. Even with it was pretty applicable in the Saiyan Saga he still couldn't do it by himself.
Complaints about the "Goku Show" are just coming off more and more as complaining about Goku doing anything. The guy's the main character, he's going to be involved in most things in a big way. Get over it people.
So on another subject I'm kind of hoping Funimation casts Erica Mendez to voice Caulifla when they finally get around to dubbing the Universal Survival arc. She was part of their Gosick dub recently, so it'd be cool to see her do more work with them.

I am tired of bringing up. So I'll stop until the next time I forget this promise and bring it up and start a new topic.
Seriously, where's the full version of Limit Break X Survivor?
As long as that song isn't out, I can't get no Satisfaction.
Whoo whoo.

One Strip! One Strip! The tournament standing image is missing U6's two mystery fighters who were standing behind Hit, as well as U4's second camouflaged fighter (who may or may not exist, to be fair). Also, Basil was the only fighter from a Universe aside from U6 and U7 to get a KO.
Personally, I'm most excited to see more of U3's fighters, especially their robots and the little blue slime person. I also want one of the Universes to produce a surprise top-tier contender to compete with Goku, Vegeta, Hit, Toppo, Jiren, Freeza, and maybe Gohan. Even if that surprise contender ends up being Ribrianne, who would be a rather obvious 'surprise' if so.
Speaking of Gohan, it dawned on me why he might last very long in this tournament.
Team-work.
Since he's working with the other members of team nerd, he's probably doing a better job of conserving his energy that his dad or Vegeta right now, meaning when he needs to go all out with his...whatever we're calling it now form, he'll be likely to have a lot of gas in the tank.
Add the fact that this form apparently doesn't chug Ki the way any Super Saiyan forms do, and Gohan might go the distance.
One Strip! One Strip!

Goku being hilariously stronger than everyone doesn't have to be detrimental the side characters doing things. Dragon Ball Z got tons of good drama out of "Oh no, Goku is incapacitated and the weaker characters have to hold the line long enough for Goku to make it. Can they succeed?!"
