I'm sorry guys, from now on I'll just keep silent. It's completely unfair to criticize anything that somebody could lik, after all. Not showing 100% adoration for something that other people like is such an unforgivable sin.
I'm gonna go sit in a corner and think about my sin.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Dragon Ball is fine to mix wacky and serious, that doesn't mean it will be executed well in every instance and I'd say the TOP is handling it poorly with most characters' behaviour being extremely confusing.
That was the first thing I thought as well. That's another thing I don't like about this joke, it sends the entirely wrong impression about the cast.
No impression, for the most part. Goku's characterization is so exaggerated and inconsistent that I blame Super for these things, not Goku. This doesn't really reflect on Goku's original character when it is this wildly different.
This conversation had me thinking about what would happen if the same events happened but Goku's personality was more in line with Z.

This song needs more love.Okay, no. It IS relevant because people were complaining that a joke about not attacking people while they were transforming was wrong for the Tournament of Power's serious tone. This conversation has now gone on for 3 pages, and don't say that it went on for 2 pages because 'people claimed you couldn't have objections' because I wasn't even there for the first 2 pages of this!
Honestly, Super probably could have been really good if everything was more in line with the original manga. RoF wasn't the greatest but it also wasn't that bad and, while Goku Black is very fanfic-y, that entire saga could have still been done well. The idea for the Universe Survival Saga is also a great one.
The ideas for Super are all pretty good but the execution is just so poor. There are moments where it's good and where that potential shines through but they are few and far between.
Also, I'd be a Hakaishin. I'd actually get respect that way.

Yeah, though we'd have to train the destroyers.
Stuff like that are really fun, yes. And the emotional aspects have been really good in Super, especially when it involves character history.
Like Roshi doing his final training in Korin's tower and Roshi saying his time spent there in his youth is one of his fondest memories.

Real talk, the reason my posts take so long to go up is because I spend half of it trying to hold back my anger at feeling misrepresented and made out to be the bad guy. Sometimes it feels like I can't even have an opinion here because a bunch of people are going to jump on me and feign like I'm trying to censor them, which makes me feel attacked and like I'm being falsely accused of committing a crime I didn't do.
There's a real miscommunication here with the difference between "here's my argument as to why I think your opinion is wrong" and "don't have that opinion because it's wrong". The former is normal fucking debate.
I think some of Super's ideas have potential, but there are also a lot that create more problems that they're worth. As one example, the Super DBs are pretty necessary to make the Goku Black arc work, but it was hard enough to have proper tension with the two sets of balls that already exist. Introducing a third set that don't have the necessary limitations of the previous sets is just asking for narrative trouble.
Still, if the tone were more in line with the original manga Super would at least be better. But I don't think a sequel was ever really needed - the original run is mostly satisfying, and the dissappointments it had were probably never going to be fixed by a sequel.
To be fair, the Super Dragon Balls are only arbitrarily better than Namek's were in the Boo Saga.
Okay could someone explain the whole 'can't exceed the power of the creator' thing? I never understood that since I'm pretty sure none of the creators can revive the dead, make objects materilze from nothing, or instantly transport beings across the universe. How is body swapping any more taxing? What defines the power of the creator?
