I don't think that's semantics.
And as far as I'm concerned, if making them relevant again isn't done in a way that actually makes sense, then it isn't better. And if they can't think of ways to do that, it's better to just leave them alone or give them non-battle related stories.
Bad writing isn't doing the characters a favor, assuming you actually think characters are owed anything in the first place.
It is phenomenally petty, and Power Levels are 100% semantics, and this is coming from a guy who loves playing with them.
How is it petty?
And just because power levels and relative strength are ultimately determined by the writers doesn't mean people should just blindly accept wild changes with the most cursory justifications, if even that.
By that logic people shouldn't complain about any writing choices, ever.

I mean, Goku was raised up to potential universe-buster levels from a base form that probably requires at least Super Saiyan to destroy a solar system; the energy required would actually need God to be a multiplier beyond the trillions for it to actually make any mathematical sense.

Sorry, the posters here simply forgot that nobody in existence has opinions that differ from yours.

De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.I think most people are fine with whatever. Getting them involved is cool, but if not, that's also cool. And even then I think that's really mostly about Tenshinhan in Krillin.
People just like making fun of Yamcha too much that I actually wouldn't be surprised if there was real backlash (and not just some of us bitching over the internet) about it he got more than something like that baseball episode, people barely even remember that Chiaotzu exists, and I think most people just took Rosh being retired as a given.

If its not done in a meaningful and well thought way, then what's the point? If you don't care about that and you just like seeing your (this is important) beloved characters again, then good for you. Your line of thought is basically "stop disliking what I like" even if said "dislike" is rooted with actual facts and evidence within the setting we're criticizing. The fact that you're trying to justify your like by saying the series has "always been this way" is ridiculous. It's the embodiment of childish.
Also, stop assuming that everyone, or at least a significant portion of people, wanted this to happen. I was perfectly content with these characters being pushed to the side (barring Gohan, but that's another issue entirely) because they had long since served their narrative purpose and had no real place anymore in the story's setting. And I'm sure the same is true for many other people too.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Psssh! If you guys think you're worth getting drunk over, than y'all overestimate yourselves!
...Well, nothing much more to add to this discussion. I kinda wish Power Levels had never gotten so high in the first place. I am just gonna try and enjoy seeing others do stuff, even if I think it's being executed poorly, etc.
One Strip! One Strip! What even relevance power levels have these days?
Does it matter at all anymore?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Well, they are no longer referenced...and now that I think about it, even before they became important, they was always a wide gap between the humans and Goku...
...so...wow, power levels were never to blame.
....huh...
One Strip! One Strip! So, my issue has never been with Power Levels, but with the tiering that placed Goku at the top, and everyone else at last place under every possible circumstance.
...
If it's all the same to you, I'm just gonna keep finding this funny, though for different reasons than I used to.
Looking back, I should go back to my attitude that Goku being the biggest dog in the yard at almost every opportunity is pretty accurate for a Journey to the West based story.
As I understand it, it wasn't just Xuhuzang(sp) who was useless. Everybody in that party but Wu Kong got whooped and needed to be saved by him.
And the Saiyans are pretty much all expies of the of Son Wu Kong, so they inherit his hax.
...Alright. Back to just enjoying it without caring about consistency. It'd be nice, but what can you do?

One Strip! One Strip!

Because I'm still invested in this franchise.
