It doesn't seem that sad...
These new Saiya-jins are willing to learn, so it makes sense.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It seems they just don't want to do anything with Goten and Trunks in this series.
Its irking, but what can you do.
One Strip! One Strip! It's just extremely jarring that they have absolutely no interest in their children, and I know it's mostly because Super prioritizes what's "cool" and "popular" over any potentially interesting story developments.
Really makes you wonder why Toriyama even bothered making Goten and Kid Trunks to begin with if he had no interest in developing them in any meaningful way.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. They might be too recent. While the Boo arc wasn't unpopular, the height of DB's popularity was from the Freeza - Android arcs.
Just like Majin Boo, I think they missed out on the nostalgia train.
Also, Super doesn't seem to mind giving them screentime, it just seems to have a serious problem remembering that they are actually really strong. Which could be the fanon osmosis that permeates Super.
Nobody takes Yamcha seriously, and nobody cares about Chiaoutzu.
As for 17 and 18, I'd assume if there was anything about the Cell Saga that would stick, it'd be them.
One Strip! One Strip!Which is silly, since they're barely younger than Cell Games Gohan and closer to the weaker Boo arc Gohan in power.
Like when you compare them to Gohan their strength doesn't stick out as much as it is made out, except that they didn't need RoSaT training to get there.
I guess the fact that they look so much smaller (and younger) than CG Gohan is what colours people's perceptions of what they should be.

Don't know what's Vegeta's excuse considering how chill Bulma is. He's just an ass then.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
