Well, it'd be a Downer Ending for the arc, just like the Saiyan arc and, to a lesser extant, the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai.

x2 It would be a Bittersweet Ending if Universe 7 was the winning universe. The scenario
x3 sounds more like a "Ray of Hope" Ending to me, since U7 are the losing protagonists with some hope at restoring the Status Quo again.
Honestly, I'm onboard with such an idea. I want some more universal-trotting stories, along with seeing these fighters interact with each.
Also onboard with that.

I was actually unaware of the "Ray of Hope" Ending trope's existence, and yeah, that does fit my scenario better than Downer Ending.

What about the 2nd son of Kakarrot?

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I just find it unbelievable that the man who constantly talked day in & day out about Saiyan Pride to the point where Goku (well Abridged-Goku at least, heh) would tune out his babble cause it is literally the same thing with little to no variation about said pride would be completely uninterested in a living world where the Saiyan race isn't extinct or endangered regardless of the fact that its in another universe.
Ya think he would go there to continue Cabba's training or show Trunks a world where his kind isn't just comprised theirs & the Son family.
Oh how the elephant & kid are gonna be surprised by their universe's showing.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I've been watching under the impression that Goku's nonchalance and seeming lack of care is because he has a plan that will - or at least that he thinks will - get everyone home okay in the end, a la pinning his hopes on Gohan against Cell but neglecting to tell anybody about it. My theory has been that he's banking on getting the Super Dragonballs, that it'll be revealed that the Rule Free Wish includes reversing non-existence, and that he's hoping to impress Zeno enough that he's allowed to get away with using that wish to bring back the dead universes (with limits or something).
If it's true, then any plan he has (not specifically having to be that one) is bound to go awry, but his banking on a trump card he's not revealing would explain a lot of his behavior.
In any case, from a genre savvy point of view they kind of killed the tension by setting up a Lower-Deck Episode with Trunks, Goten and Marron before leaving for the tournament. We know we're going to see that, so we know that either the tournament will be interrupted by the subplot or they'll be just fine so we can have the story told after the tournament is over.

Zeno has already shown himself to be willing to go back on this whole thing during Goku's fight with Bluewolfguy. Getting him to change his mind seems worryingly easy, but at the same time I think they said he never goes back on his word, so if he promises he won't do it, they have nothing to worry about.
So, after poster this scene
from the old Path to Power movie, I got to thinking that I've never watched any of the dragon ball movies.
I'm gonna change that. I'll start with Blood Rubies, and work my way up. Gonna be an interesting experience.
One Strip! One Strip!Variations of Goku's first fight with Yamcha have been animated a surprising number of times. Like, 3 or 4 times. I don't think they ever animated the moment where Yamcha bounces off the top of the panel border, always choosing to animate that moment as him bouncing off of some scenery above him.

I mean, they could try to animate him bouncing off the edge of the screen, but it'd look pretty awkward.
I mean that, and you still have the 10-years later Epilogue where Goku leaves to train with Uub that's still canon
I definitely think Super's issues is that it's trying too hard to emulate earlier character and story moments. 18 only entered the no-stakes 25th Budokai for the prize money, therefore she must maintain that attitude toward the tournament of power even though it makes no sense.
With the way everyone is behaving, I'd almost expect Freeza to say "what the fuck is wrong with all of you??" while listening to them bitch about no wanting to join the tournament.

You added a positive spin on it...
But maybe it still can work as a downer...
