So I'm listening to more of Mistare Fusion's videos.
The guy hits some points that I myself have noted about Dragonball. I really like them. I've watched his videos on Namek, and now I'm looking at the stuff about the Saiyan saga.
One Strip! One Strip!Trivia from Volume 3 of the Dragon Ball Super manga.

Manga Zamasu originally took Monaka's body. Found out it was weak so he grabbed Goku's

I really love Toriyama's art style. Also, all of this information makes me slightly inclined to place the manga above the anime in regards to the canon.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! It'd be nice if he worked this closely with Toei, so there'd be less inconsistencies.
I do admit though, the idea that Zamasu switched with Monaka first is hilarious. Also, Future Old Kai sure got screwed.
Been watching more of Mistare Fusion's videos. I think this guy is secretly me, because he says a lot of stuff I've been saying. I've been looking at some of his stuff for both the 23rd Budokai and the Saiyan arcs.
Despite the fact that the changes he made were what made things successful, I sometimes feel that maybe Toriyama shouldn't have moved so far from his Gag Manga nature. It feels like he just wasn't willing to put in the thought that a more serious series needed sometimes. The plot went the way it did because it's how he wanted it to go, not because it made sense...though it's not as though he's the only one guilty of it.
I mean, during one of the early Saiyan arc videos (the fight with Raditz) when Goku opts to put him in the Full Nelson for the second attempt at the Special Beam Canon, something gets brought up that I never considered before: why didn't Goku just grab the tail again? Goku actually answers this: because he was afraid Raditz would remove his own Tail. Mistare points out how weird it is that Goku thinks he would even do this (he never thought to do it when Goku grabbed him the first time). In the end it comes off as just a week justification for how he wanted the story to go. Goku needed to die, so he was gonna die.
Eh, maybe I'm just talking bullshit as usual. Feel free to just ignore Rob. It's probably better for your sanity.
One Strip! One Strip!See, you're wrong to say Raditz didn't think of it the first time. We know from Raditz and Vegeta that losing one's tail is a big blow to their pride, and it hadn't reached the stage where Raditz needed to cut his off to still have time to dodge.
It's probably something that Toriyama may not have planned out ahead while writing it weekly, but it's not inconsistent at all. All that is said is that Raditz could have removed his tail, but didn't need to do it the first time. Goku realized this only after the first time he attempted it.
That's part of what I dislike about his videos. He nitpicks some really basic stuff, and downplays any explanations that don't agree with him. But then he reviews the 21st Budokai and points out the whole thing is littered with inconsistencies (so many rules broken or ignored) but doesn't hold it against the arc.
I liked seeing Toriyama's involvement in the manga. Zamasu taking Monaka's body is really funny. Also, looking at his Zamasu, he's still got it. Shame he instead draws in the super chibi style for everything else recent.
Tails are a point of pride for them? I guess I forgot that.
Then again, Raditz did say it was the source of their true power when he noticed Goku had lost his.
Maybe this guy just synchs with me because he says a lot of stuff that I've said before.
