Majin Buu does have options that would make him to powerful to defeat in a tournament setting. Still, I really wish that they stuck with Buu instead of Frieza as Freiza is a sadistic monster with no redeemable qualities. Sometimes I wonder what goes on in Toei/Toyotaro/Toriyama's heads when they wrote this?

I'm guessing the thought process was that throwing a wild card onto the team when teamwork is a priority focus will highly increase the drama.

Like the Joker.

In this case they should be careful not to pimp him out too much like they do with the clown.

Disabling flight already makes it possible to defeat Boo without too much difficulty.

If anything, he'd be better off for showing how unique powers can matter. Which is exactly why they swapped him out for someone with a huge power level.

Hows that working exactly?

No flight = Easier Boo defeat

'cause you have an easier time knocking him out of bounds, like everyone else. With Boo's abilities ring outs are the most reliable way to beat him.

Yeah, it was pointed out his elastic limbs would make eliminating folk easy.

@gap:

Being irredeemable is kinda irrelevant though. Goku isn't expecting Freeza to have a change of heart or anything like that.

elastic limbs aren't really that big a deal when you can punch someone across the room already

if going off the edge doesn't auto-disqualify you then anyone could use ki blasts to propel themselves back up.

Like anyone would actually do that though...

But nah, getting knocked out the ring shouldn't be instant death...falling below the ring should.

Not to mention, Buu is pretty durable against anyone who isn't a Super Saiyan, Freeza, Eerus or any other stronger foe. Buu is durable and virtually indestructible unless you just that strong that you blast Buu in one shot as such as for example Vegito vs Super Buu.

That's also true of anyone who is strong. You're very durable against opponents who aren't stronger than you.

Boo does have the advantage in the form of his crazy regeneration, though. The only way to defeat Boo is to completely vaporize him in one shot.

Not that said fact would be of any relevance in a tournament where you can't kill people.

Not to mention Candy Beam would probably sweep up a lot of the weaker guys without killing them, since Buu could always turn them back to normal afterwards.

...Or Zeno would just throw their candy asses back to their universes to die.

A lot of people seem to assume that because Buu has a lot of non-standard powers he's somehow more useful that people who just brute force things, which isn't true for the most part.

It can definitely be helpful, but at the end of the day, Buu's candy beam has never been useful against someone stronger than him. And that's Buu in any incarnation, not just Mr. Buu.
