Which is probably why her rival seems to be Vegeta.
The Roshi scene here I found infinitely funnier than in the Tien recruitment episode. The probable reasons are 1) the victim here voluntarily taking one for the team; 2) said volunteer being a dude and Roshi KNOWS IT; and 3) Roshi's actually realizing his own character flaw and working to correct it. I mean, there IS the potential for some hot babes to be in the tournament, which is a given considering 80 fighters all coming at each other in a crowded space.

Maybe the gender ratio could be rounded out by some magical boys.
Well the Magical Girl universe has the Sentai universe as their counterpart.
By rule they can only have 1 Token Female or Token Male, in the magical girl case it will be a super smooth Tuxedo Mask type character or a shota character like Erio.

Has Popo ever had the super close-up in the anime proper before now? If not, I don't think it can be denied that Popo threatening to ban Vegeta from the ROSAT is a DBZA reference. It wouldn't be the first one, but it would be the most obvious one. In other news, Gowasu actually is a Godtuber, and this episode is 100% fanservice.
Just like I predicted, Brianne might be my favorite new character of this arc, and she might compete with Magetta for favorite new character of Super.
I like Magetta too! I've always had a thing for the characters with odd designs and unique powers.
That, and I got super excited when I saw Brianne transform. I was like, "HOLY SHIT IT'S THE CLOWN GIRL FROM THE OPENING!"
No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!Unlike in Abridged, Canon!Popo fails at being threatening do to being left behind just like everybody else. Remember when he could run circles around Goku and humiliate him as a kid?
So Pink Lady's name is Brianne? Hm. Think the rest of U2 will have stereotypical American teen girl names as well to stand out?
DAMMIT MARK, STOP HITTING HELPY!!Heh. I'm annoyed I only remembered to comment on that today. It seems I was a little too slow however.
What surprises me is that I thought Toei disliked DBZA considering stuff like the thing with the latter group's appearance during the Kai dub. I thought they had some issues with the DBZA crew, so it seems weird for them to make any nod to them.
One Strip! One Strip! To be honest, Yamcha has been a meme in Japan for quite a while, so I wouldn't necessarily credit TFS. Gintama has been making jokes about Yamcha
◊ for the longest time.

Also, I know I'm kind of late to this discussion, but regarding @57359:
I actually hadn't thought of that, but yeah. I imagine Krillin's going to be very upset with Goku over his decision to recruit Frieza. I know I wouldn't feel safe sharing a team with someone who killed me in cold blood. Add in the fact that Frieza also killed Vegeta and Piccolo, and Goku's decision comes off as not just stupid, but horribly callous.
No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!
Neither did Piccolo nor Vegeta, nor even Buu really. None of them showed any signs of wanting to change, it just happened after hanging around long enough and working together during mutual crises.
Which isn't to say it's going to happen here, but "bad guy works with the good guys, and only Goku's really okay with it" isn't new to Dragon Ball.

Eh... I think they're more of a gray area.
Vegeta never actually killed anyone else on the team, unless you count the characters that Nappa killed under Vegeta's instruction.
Piccolo killed Goku, but I think you could argue that Goku was pulling a Heroic Sacrifice by holding Raditz in place. That, and Goku's the one doing the recruiting and he's the only one who died at Piccolo's hands, so it doesn't come off as callous, at least not to me.
Super Buu killed Krillin, 18 and Roshi, but you could argue that the Buu we know and love (Fat Buu, Mr. Buu, Good Buu or whatever you want to call him) wasn't in control at the time.
That's true of Piccolo and Vegeta, but how is it true of Buu? He literally pulled a Heel–Face Turn because Mr. Satan asked him nicely to stop killing people.

No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!Vegeta never killed any of them personally, but he ordered Nappa to do so, would have done so if not beaten, and never expressed any remorse for it (or at least not to the people involved directly).
Piccolo was still very hellbent on taking over the world, or at least thought he was, until he found himself sacrificing himself for Gohan.
Mr. Buu, never killed any of our guys, but he still slaughtered city after city.

Well she definitely fired off a Pretty Cure style Finisher so she has power, however it might not work on those pure hearted or oblivious people aka Goku.
