He was not in the anime so I guess that was Toyotaro's decision.
Which is an Adaptation-Induced Plot Hole
It contradicts the Baddock special!!
No way...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Anyone find it funny how there's still some recent pieces of official art that have Vegeta with reddish hair despite not having that hair color since the Saiyan Saga incorrection?
Randomness remembers it being more purplish...but alright.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Wasn't Super Buu pure evil at that point, though? That restraint might not have been there anymore.
Then again, I haven't seen that part in forever. ^_^;;
At the point where he split, Mr Buu only had genuine care for Mr Satan and Bee. His heart may have been opened, but he hadn't been given enough time to care about, say, Goku or humanity as a whole. Videl had the misfortune of not being Mr Satan, and Super Buu not giving enough thought in his chocolate rampage
I've always thought Super Buu's initial restraint with Videl was more of a token grace to Hercule, but the sentiment and feeling behind it no longer existed.
Kind of like in a story when a villain spares the hero's life as an insincere gesture for a past favor, then has no problem trying to kill to kill them the next time they meet. There's no genuine respect for their life there, just an inclination to clear up a past debt.
Super Buu still never directly harms Hercule though.
So I do get the sense that he does on some level care for Mr. Satan's life, and would struggle with harming him.
Like, even Kid Buu seemingly physically can't harm Hercule until he spits out Mr. Buu. He just seizes up, freezes, his muscles lock up and all he can do is scream in frustration.
Like, the reason Super Buu even exists is Buu's anger over Mr. Satan's death. That's what allowed Buu's evil to escape.
It'd be a bit much to say that Hercule is Super Buu's motivation, but. There definitely seems to be a connection there. Call him the catalyst or trigger or what have you.
Like, Super Buu wasn't even pure evil. He's what happens when Buu's pure evil eats Buu's pure good.
He's the same as Fat Buu, only. Redistributed, basically. Which I like and find interesting.

Those were more or less my thoughts on the whole thing as well. Satan was an inadvertent (but not particularly strong) Morality Pet. As long as the Fat Buu was a part of him, no later versions of Buu could bring themselves to harm him. It was only when he removed that part (after Vegeta cut him off from him within the body) that he was 100% his old self again.
This proves Babidi is an idiot. If he'd established the same relationship with Buu that Satan did, he'd have essentially been bulletproof. But that little turd can't see past his own nose, so I'm not shocked.
One Strip! One Strip! That's right. Toriyama is far more involved in the manga (what with him being more concerned about the jokes in the latter). I guess he just wanted to let Toei do what they felt like doing.
it's not a surprise some consider the Manga the true adaptation or something, though Toriyama is pretty chill on that if I understand.
One Strip! One Strip!Toyotaro did say he was rather particular about the jokes didn't he? I guess I took that as greater involvement on one end than it really was.
One Strip! One Strip!
