Also, cotton candy is super light. I imagine that planet would have to be goddamn gigantic in order to have any noticeable gravitational pull, unless the cotton candy was really densely packed together or something.

My personal take is that while Mortal Level is obviously not synonymous with Power Levels, it does use the average of a universe's Power Levels as an factor in whatever "equation" it uses to get the final result, with a possibility of civilization development levels (i.e. "How many thriving planet-societies are there? And how well-developed are they on average, in comparison to the current age of the universe?) being another factor.

[up] I can see that causing problems. From the - admittedly limited - picture we've been shown, the strength of a species and its moral development seem to be inversely proportional.

Then again, there are the saiyans of universe 6, so maybe I'm completely wrong here.

To be fair, just knowing whether or not they're factors doesn't say anything about how the equation itself is formulated, or that the formulation itself would make sense to mortals (Blue-and-Orange Morality, remember? What is held as important for a mortal race's proper development to the Shinjin may not be so to a mortal mind, and vice versa). For all we know, the equation makes multiple uses of the same factor in different ways (e.g. X*Y + X^2/root[XY] - i*Y/root[i*X] + ...) that can give widely divergent results just by altering one value a tiny bit.

Well damn.

It's still kinda small though. It might really be a result of the combined whammy of Buu, Frieza and Beerus.

You could say Universe 7 was a triple threat. tongue

Really it's just a backwater universe...

At the start of Super there were 30, right? Since Beerus destroyed one and a half onscreen.

Universe 7 is the underdog universe....until Goku and co. beat them all and lose against the strongest fighter just like in other Dragon Ball tournament except for the Piccolo Jr arc.

Speaking of tourneys, why did the Z-Fighters join the Tenkaichi Budokai during the Buu Arc considering that they were stronger than everyone else involved and likely wouldn't have been happy ending a fun fight with a ring out?

Because they could have fought each other, leading to Goku vs Vegeta: The Redux.

I was going to point out they could fight each other anywhere, but Vegeta setting a grand stage for their battle sounds like the kind of over the top thing he'd do at that point in the series.

Purely for fun as well as the fact Goku was coming back to life for a day so they all wanted to hang out & do something special.

Also for monetary reasons such as in 18's case.

Ya know looking at how bad Universe 7 is cause of Buu, Freiza & Beerus then fuck what the hell must have happened to Universe 9 am I right? Sidra is prolly a bad at his job God like Beerus.

[up]Except in Sidra's case, its the opposite problem as Beerus - Sidra just lets planets sit there and stagnate instead of "pruning the leaves" so to speak. Another contributing factor must be Ro. If judging from the prick's behavior, dude is THE absolute WORST Supreme Kai to exist. At least Zamasu went on his rampage out of well intentioned extremism before devolving into omnicidal mania.

I just really like how Sidra is too soft a God of Destruction while Ro is too nasty a Supreme Kai.

It's a neat subversion of expectations for what amount to gods of death and life respectively.

[up]Also a tiny bit of Reality Ensues, as usually one would expect that such inverse personalities compared to their actual jobs are actually pretty talented in their assigned roes when it comes to fiction.

This only increases my interest on Universe 1, 5, 8 and 12.

According to the manga, Universe 12 was the first to time travel!

You know, Shin talks about how they lost Namek, but last time I checked, Toriyama did not retcon away the fact that a New Namek was created via a wish made on Porunga after Old Namek was destroyed, and the entire population sans Guru was put on said new planet, so technically Namek was not lost.

Shin also mentions Planet Vegeta and Planet Sadala separately, New Namek is probably thought of as separate from old Namek.

@ Known: At the beginning of DBS, Beerus destroyed about 8 planets due to his hunger and tastes. A few more were destroyed when he fought SSJG Goku, but I'm not sure if those planets had any life on them.

So I'm guessing there were originally 36 planets with life, give or take a few.

#54924: Mar 29th 2017 at 9:48:15 PM

Wait.

I'm reading this right now.

In the most recent episode of the anime, fans listened in shock as the Kaioshin of the universe said only 28 planets were left in their system. With worlds such as Sadal and Old Namek destroyed, only a few planets were left alive, so Goku and his squad would have to comprise the universe’s team for the Omni-Kings’ tournament.

Did Whis say there were only 28 left or that there were only 28 total?
