The finale was just awesome. Definitely the greats example of a love confession I've seen in a shonen anime, let alone a Gundam series.
I also prefer the localization of the God Gundam to the Burning Gundam. It doesn't really feel like a God so Burning is more fitting though I realized the name is also to match the Dark Gundam which was called Devil Gundam in the original translation.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."For Hunter X Hunter, watch the 90's version. The new one that you'll find on Crunchyroll, honestly, the tournament is boring as all heck, though the animation is obviously better.
Flame of Recca has a pretty good tournament arc in the latter half, albeit, it and the show itself are largely inspired by Yu Yu Hakusho, right down to sharing the same animation studio I believe - unfortunately it ended on a cliffhanger, but, "journey > destination" there.
Another vote for G-Gundam.
Zoids New Century Zero was alright back when I was a kid. I don't know how it holds up now. It's basically a tournament between people piloting giant animal robots. Think Voltron but with a tournament premise and less superhero-ing.
I'd also recommend rewatching Dragonball for the first 3 tournaments because watching some of the fights now, they were honestly some of the greatest moments in the entire franchise.]]

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!The arc was clearly there to introduce the concept of Nen. Its not like Killua or Gon had any pretty particular aspirations about the place aside from making enough money to support themselves.
They only bothered to take things seriously when Hisoka showed up but after Gon repaid the punch he received from guy the two left without a second thought.
It wasn't that much of a tournament arc anyway. Most of the people that fought were no name jobbers.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Normally I'm inclined to argue that older animation has a lot more going on from frame to frame, but looking at these two side-by-side they seem to have done mostly the same shots which is - interesting to say the least. I still say Gon vs Hanzo was better in the older one

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!In the Japanese culture, and even though DB doesn't take place in actual Japan it still takes a lot of social cues from its author's country, when a man from a hick family like Gohan marries the daughter of a respected, socially powerful rich man, he'd be expected to take her family name, not the other way around.
But since family names in Dragon Ball are said to be rare, and Videl's family doesn't have one...
Then it doesn't even matter.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Satan IS his name...
It being a family name of sorts was a Dub thing...when Hercule was all the rage.

Ya know I would have liked to see how Gohan & Videl's wedding went.
I'm sure there were a lot of funny moments involved heheh.
