Someone pointed out before, Tien always brings some crazy stuff to the tournament - with Toei's current track record bringing back Kaioken, Great Saiyaman, and Vegito, I'm actually excited to see if Tien's going to do anything.
The shot of all the fighters marching together is telling - there's a lot more emphasis on the other fighters than before. This could be the arc where they surprise us and have Krillin and Tien really pitch in. Heck, if Goku Kai-yooo-ken-Bloo's, he'll probably be out of commission for awhile.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!That seems like a natural conclusion...
He can do good or not...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I mean, SOMEONE's going to have to job at some point. Are we seriously going to give everyone a win?
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!![]()
Oh, there's an actual difference?
Thanks for clearing that up for randomness...it was confusing.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Veggie has never beaten a foe stronger than Karrot.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Pretty much. Goku is explicitly the strongest, and if he loses, they are screwed.
That's the way it's been, and that's the way it will always be.
I'm hoping to be surprised, but I don't expect much from the others to be honest. At the least, Goku and Vegeta may give us some good fights (with the former beating whoever takes out the latter).
One Strip! One Strip!Goku losing is not the end of the world, especially if he inflicts so much damage on his opponent that it renders his opponent unable to beat someone else or if he exposes a flaw in his opponent's technique or something that would allow Vegeta to seal the deal.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariOn the one hand, the beating Goku gave Frost is part of what let Piccolo last long enough to try his full power Makankosappo / Special Beam Canon gambit.
On the other hand (and with the same character) a half beaten to death Piccolo said that even if Yamcha, Tien, and Krillin (all relatively fresh) attacked him at once, he'd still stomp them during his fight with Goku. He then went on to swat them away like flies later, proving this.
Simply put, if the enemy is strong enough, weaker fighters won't be able to put a dent in said fighter, no matter how battered s/he is.
One Strip! One Strip! In another series, they might get around the issue of defeating a villain who beat the strongest hero down by saying said hero lost, not because of his power, but because of stupidity, and have the other heroes using superior smarts to prevail over the bad guy in turn. But Dragon Ball left the grounds where it could be that kind of series long ago. Powerlevels went so high it doesn't matter how smart you are, you still can't outfight an idiot who can move way faster than you and is invulnerable to anything you think of throwing at him.
You say that, but one more reason why that would never really work in Dragon Ball is because Goku is not Unskilled, but Strong. Goku has both immense skill as well as power.
Also he never really had your average shonen action hero's usual flaws, since he started out as an expy of the nigh-invincible Sun Wukong, and what flaws he did have were ironed out a long time ago, in terms of fighting anyway.
So it's very difficult for anyone to make the argument of "well the stronger character lost because his opponent was more skilled, but the weaker character had more skill so he won", because Goku is not only the strongest fighter amongst the heroes, he's also the most skilled.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariGoku is skilled, yes, but if a brute who is powerful enough as to beat Goku down despite a lack of strategy arrived, the other fighters would still be powerless as to stop said brute even if he had all the brainpower of a rotting wooden plank.
Hell, Buu was, while a better fighter than usually recognized, less of a skilled fighter than Goku, and that didn't stop him from constantly having an edge through most of his arc.
It is also important to note that Goku did technically lose some of his fights. Goku lost Master Roshi/Jackie Chun in the first tournament he fought in, Goku lost to Tien in the next tournament, Goku humiliated by Mr.Popo, Goku was more or less beaten by Oozaru Vegeta just to name a few.

"Mai waifu."At least the others were considered worthy of fighting. They chose Roshi over him...likely because they knew he'd fight the strongest possible opponent in the semi finals and get stomped like he always does.
Hey now, he did win that baseball game for everyone. That's one W no one can ever take away from him.

Whoever called the furry trio Team Jacob got a chuckle out of me.
