Here's something that's always bugged me: What does King Cold actually do in the Planet Trade Organization? With him being the father of Frieza, you'd think Frieza would merely be his second-in-command. But no, Frieza is the one who runs the whole damn thing while Cold resides in the shadows doing...whatever the fuck he does.

Makes me want to know more about the PTO's inner workings and the Cold family's hierarchy.

FWIW, I've also read that the character designer/chief animation director for Super and the Dragon Ball franchise as a whole is creatively stagnant and overbearing when it comes to correcting other animators' work compared to, say, One Piece. Animator Naoki Tate gets hit by this pretty hard if you compare the work he's done for both shows.

[up][up][up]I always figured Freeza was in charge, but Cold was the equivalent of a retired mob boss. He didn't do much himself, but when he had an idea, his son would listen.

Why would King Cold have a role in Freeza's organization? It is, after all, Freeza's organization.

King Cold could very well have his own. Freeza seems like the kind of guy who would like that sort of competition since there's none in the universe who can match him in a fight (except for the Gods).

I was never a fan of the Ginyu Force when I was growing up.

To be fair, when I was a kid, I didn't like the saiyans and Frieza arc that much.

Fusion does bring a good point with the structure.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.

Not really. In fact, the anime went the opposite direction, with him taking a lava dunk and emerging unscathed.

The closest is Vegeta overheating while fighting Magetta, and that was in a sealed room with lava spraying everywhere.

Didn't the manga also have a scene where Frieza plows Goku through several layers of earth and into an active lava flow, and both of them come out completely fine?

He can probably create a ki shield or aura or whatever to protect him from heat and lava and things.

If he's had the shit beaten out of him and his power and energy are low enough and/or he's caught off guard while suppressing his power, then heat can probably hurt him.

Freeza plowing Goku into lava was in the anime, and was shortly followed by that pointless segment where Gohan comes back to try to fight Freeza again, before Goku rises from the ocean and tells him to run.

In the manga, Freeza just plows Goku into the ground, assumes he's dead, and Goku immediately rises from the ocean.

Technically it's magma, not lava.

Unless it's flowed up to the surface at that point.

Well, Vegeta was getting getting uncomfortable against Magetta who spilling magma everywhere.....if Vegeta gets injured by it, stands to reason Goku would too.

No way they would survive the center of this planet, or try to stand on the sun or anything. Just going off of Dragon Ball Super logic here. At least according to the anime....

Goku's heat resistance probably comes from a certain Monkey King.

Goku did imply that it was dangerous for him to be in the Earth's mantle, and Vegeta was on the verge of hyperthermia due to being near the top of a mostly sealed container while lava was being sprayed everywhere, so presumably their heat resistance is the same as a normal Saiyan's, if not a bit higher. Beerus and Whis, on the other hand, appear to have incredible heat resistance, as shown in the same scene with Goku in the mantle.

I mean, both events are anime-only though; the first is a scene from a filler episode, and we know how bad Toei's track record is when it comes to filler, and the later was an addition to the anime fight which never shows up in the corresponding manga fight, so we don't know if it was in the outline Toriyama gave them, or if Toei came up with it themselves.

Filler is only content that was added to a show that isn't in the original source material. Super has no original source material, and as such, nothing, not even the episodes in-between arcs, qualifies as filler. As far as I'm concerned, there are two versions of Super: the anime and the manga, and since neither is an adaptation of the other, they're both equally canon, and you can just choose which one you prefer. I choose the anime, since the manga's pacing is way too rushed and, as such, loses out on many great opportunities that the anime capitalizes on.
