Man, Hit is actually a god; I love how this episode emphasizes that he's an assassin first and a fighter second. No fancy techniques, he just kills you and bails.
Yea, the lack of explanation on most of the god stuff is kind of annoying...it's not even just the Super anime; ROF had this with Super Saiyan Blue too.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
Toriyama doesn't really plan this stuff out. Remember, it was years before we got a lot of explanations about things.
Lapis and Lazuli?
Satan having once met Tao Pai Pai (which everyone calls bullshit on anyway).
I would agree that those involved in the ritual might have soaked up a bit of God Ki by default.
Except that would mean that Goten and Gohan could do it as well, and we can clearly see they can't.
I didn't expect to agree with Saiga on this one, but in the process of trying to disagree with him, I found more (from my perspective) Fridge Logic on the whole thing.
Fuck it. I just want good fights. An explanation would be nice, but that's clearly not gonna happen when they are just working off cliff notes.
One Strip! One Strip!Goku let his arrogance blind him.
Sure, he knew he'd never seen the full extent of Hit's powers, and he had his guard up the entire time, but it's funny how even with that (and he was forewarned of the attack) once Hit decided to git er dun, Goku couldn't do shit.
That's the full difference in their abilities. I guess the question for me it, was Hit always able to do that extra shit, or did being forced to improve during his fight with Goku lead to him expanding his arsenal (and it was already implied he was pulling his punches, so Goku really had no clue what he was up against despite fighting him).
Do you have your own theories on the matter Saiga? I mean, I can see where you're coming from. If we just start tossing out our own theories, it leads to mass misinformation because people start assuming those theories are fact.
But still, right now, all we have is theories, and I don't see much harm in speculation.

One Strip! One Strip!I wonder if this mini-arc is happening because they're going to kill off Hit and maybe all of U6 in the tournament as a Sacrificial Lamb. This way, we can see what Hit can do while trying to kill before he gets killed off for real.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!![]()
I don't know. Sometimes it's fun to speculate. Doesn't matter if you know if it's true or not.
And it's great when it turns out your theory or random idea is actually spot on.
That being said, trying to guess what Toriyama will do sometimes can be hard, since, while he has come to have his patterns, his modus operandi is mainly This seems cool. I'mma do that shit.
Was that in Super or BOG?
It sounds likes Toei added that to explain Vegeta's later ascension to God, meaning they may have decided that he did gain the power through the ritual.

One Strip! One Strip!I do kinda wish we had an arc that wasn't just about some master plan the gods had for them. It feels like Goku and Vegeta don't really have any agency in this series in general. They just do what Beerus and Whis and Zeno tell them to do.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Okay. Bulma just hit Goku with a car. While he was carrying a giant fish. And she attacked him immediately after.
On the other hand, Goku likes tuna. Blegh.
And whoo, Hit is a badass, not a god.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!What kind of tuna did you have to have such a reaction? Because damn if a bluefin isn't one of the most exquisite sea meats.
A damn shame overfishing is going on, and certain Japanese companies (Mitsubishi for instance) are freezing good specimens to sell them once the species goes extinct. Nevermind the fact that r-strategists recover quite easily, as long as space is given, and pressure shifts from the large specimens to the smaller ones.
And turning intentionally a renewable resource into a not renewable one, just so once it runs out you can get a fuckton of money ONCE, is outright moronic.
Gotta love Hit, in any case. Weak, but Skilled needs some love in Dragon Ball, after all.

(2) Again, blegh. To all of that. I'm still chewing on the idea that shark is endangered.
I don't typically hear "x is a god" used as a figure of speech. Especially not in a series where new gods are being revealed in almost every story arc. So I took it rather literally. Hit being some sort of demigod wasn't impossible.
"Shark" is a generic term for over 400 species. Also, chock-full of mercury, and requires special treatment to be eaten because they, in layman's terms, have urine as blood plasma to avoid getting salt-dried in the ocean. And allow me to question your taste for disliking fish, but at the same time congratulate your unwitting effort into preserving threatened species.
And, basically, the manga has the finer aspects of worldbuilding and character consistency, while the anime has the more spectacular fights and the better slice of life episodes? Can run with that!

So, talking about endangered species listers...
Would Cell have accepted his loss if it had been Goku that beat him?
Well, not accept-accept, but something closer to him not going the whole "Fuck you I'm taking you all with me when I die!" route when he gets beaten. So he still fights on to the death, but keeps the fight strictly between him and Goku because I don't think Cell gives a shit about anyone else.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimari...Probably not.
He's got plenty of Frieza in him. He decided to destroy the world if no one could beat him solely because he could.
I wouldn't trust that he'd just take his loss gracefully.
One Strip! One Strip!
