So here is something that I am curious about when it comes to Gohan. His Mystic form is really plain and honestly kinda boring, do you think that aspect of his Mystic form actually hurt Gohan in the long run. I mean people do say that Blue is just a recolor and is lazy but it is still a visual cue that "Shit is about to go down." that excites people and gets them interested. Gohan's mystic form had none of that. If Gohan is going to be brought back I hope they give his Mystic form a little more flair.
Personally, I prefer the interpretation that Mystic/Ultimate "Form" isn't actually a transformation, and it's just Gohan's base powered up to his maximum possible without Godly Ki. Because, really, there are no visual indicators. His hair spikes up, aside from one bang, which is exactly the same hairstyle he's had throughout the entire Buu Saga. His eyes are more intense... so what? He just narrowed them. There are absolutely zero physical differences between base and "Ultimate form" Gohan,
Except his hair isn't the same as it was through the Buu saga.
Gohan pre-power up
vs. Ultimate Gohan.
His hair is spikier and his bang is not only larger, but also lacks the smaller bang off to the side. It's comparable to the differences between SSJ1 and SSJ2 when it's used by Goku or Buu saga Gohan.

This song needs more love.He has two bangs while not in Ultimate Mystic form...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. The bang is in the front, and looks like it's going to one side or the other depending on the viewing angle, even if it is angled left instead of right, again, so what? I can change the position of my hair as will, and Saiyan hair has never been so stubborn as to be unaffected by wind or shifts in gravity.
It gets blown when in motion...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. You're applying real-world logic to Dragon Ball Z. Hair has consistently been an indicator of transformations so if his hair is consistently styled one way pre-transformation and then all of a sudden changes, even slightly, after getting a power-up, logic would dictate that the the power-up is responsible.

This song needs more love.![]()
I realize that my wording was poor and that this explains what I was trying to say better. The power-up is responsible for the hairstyle change from a Doylist perspective. My original point was that since Gohan's hair at the end of episode 67 was styled the exact same way as the Ultimate power-up has consistently been portrayed with, at the very least it's an indication that Gohan is stronger than he was.

This song needs more love.Yeah. I've seen Ultimate described as basically Gohan getting all the Super Saiyan facial features without actually going Super Saiyan itself. Which is really what they imply the form actually is in the first place.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Yea, even in the manga there's a significant Art Shift after Gohan power ups; its explicitly a transformation in all subsequent DB media.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.

Zamassssss...
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
