I still don't know where they got the name 'Vegito' from. I mean, yes, that's how it's pronounced, but it's meant to be Vegeta + Kakarotto (as in, that's how the Japanese pronunce Kaka Carrot Cake's name). It's a portmanteau. The 'ito' in 'Vegito' comes right out of nowhere.

Because the plot of Fusion Reborn actually happened and it was just wiped from existence by the Time Patrol... but since Goku and Vegeta are retroactively made into Gods by mastering SSJB, they can sort of recall the previous timeline before it was corrected, so they already know that they named the fusion dance version Gogeta, so they needed a new name, and since Goku already had a second name they could use, they went with that.
