Apparently in the new chapter of DBS, Future Trunks achieved a "new" form of SSJ that looks like SSJ2 but is as powerful as Goku's SSJ3. This is just like when Vegeta went MUH BULMA to Beerus a few sagas ago, so I guess Vegeta and Trunks can go Rage SSJ2 or something like that.
The parallels, they be hitting hard.

I found the video that showed the conference where Majin Vegeta and Meta-Cooler were teased for Xenoverse 2:
If you pause at 1:35 in, you'll see the pic that teased the characters, but more importantly you'll see a paragraph of Spanish text talking about the game's roster. Halfway through the text I noticed a few really important keywords:
"Contara con cientos de personajes"
That line translates to "Will feature hundreds of characters" in English.
We know every character from the first game and DLC (58 in total) is coming back for XV2, and we know of Zarbon, Dadoria, Future Gohan, 16, Imperfect Cell, Majin Vegeta, Turles, Slug, Cooler, Final Form Cooler, Meta-Cooler (unconfirmed yet), Super Gogeta, Janemba, Time Breaker Bardock, DBS Future Trunks and Goku Black (Pre-Order). We know Teen Future Trunks, Nail, Time Breaker Broly, Time Breaker Janemba, Time Breaker Golden Frieza, Time Breaker Kid Buu and Time Breaker Yamcha will appear but we don't know if they'll be playable.
If these characters are also playable, that means we know about 75-81 playable characters so far.
What have Dimps not shown us yet?

Actually Saiga, we can somewhat guess what Toriyama wrote by the similarities in the two versions. If you break the anime and the manga down, you can find the similar elements that is Toriyama's idea. Like Goku forfeits to Hit and Hit forfeits to Monaka is most likely Toriyama's idea since it's in both versions. Or even in this latest chapter, in both the anime and manga, Trunks spars with Goku and they both become Super Saiyan 2, Trunks dealt with Dabura and Babidi, and he attacked Goku when he woke up in the past.
The devil is in the details, naturally.
@Rinsan
It's a Spanish release, I really wouldn't trust it. Trust me, they're not gonna tell them before they tell a bigger news outlet that will spread the news in English.
And even if they are talking about stuff they know for sure, they're likely counting alternate costumes as separate characters because people are dumb.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimari![]()
I feel like they might not care for three anymore and are trying to ignore it.
Or they are just stupid. Whichever one makes more sense I suppose.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Hmm, I guess.
If you counted up every variation in XV as a separate character, you'd get like 164 characters, 228 if you counted the CAC's and their variations. But Dimps didn't advertise variations as separate characters last time, so I don't know what's going on.
I wonder, did MKX ever count variations as separate characters?
The devil is in the details, naturally.
Looking for the similarities is, I feel, the best approach and it's what I've been doing, for sure. But I still don't feel comfortable saying that would be canon, it's somewhere above an education guess but below outright knowing to me.
Examining what is the same in both situations seems to really help explain the WTF-y moments in both versions. Like Chapter 13 of Super, with the return of Super Saiyan God and awkward explanation of Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta's defeat.
What both versions have in common: Hit easily defeats Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, before fighting base Goku who figures out Hit's power and puts up a much better fight in both Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan Blue. That basic outline probably came from Toriyama, and both Toei and Toyotarou had to fill in the blanks as best they could. Toei did a Toei and brought back an old move like they always do, Toyotarou went with Worf Had the Flu and added further limitations to Hit's power.
I think Toei had the best idea to be frank.
I've made my dislike of how Toriyama tossed out Kaioken to be pretty clear so them bringing it back like that was awesome.
My only regret is that we probably won't even see it again now.
One Strip! One Strip! To be fair, the manga is probably better in that it actually gave an explanation as to why Hit's Time Leap was less effective on Goku as he got stronger, instead of giving us "Goku is faster than stopped time" as an explanation like Toei did.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!I'm guessing Toyotaro decided to make Trunks stronger so if he gets SSB, it won't look like such a ridiculous jump in power? That or just him playing favouritism. He mentioned Trunks was one of his favourite characters in that interview, didn't he?
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Agreed.
@Rob: I don't like the anime's approach. I appreciate it trying to offer an explanation for why SS + Kaio-ken doesn't work, and making it so that SSB + Kaio-ken isn't worth while, but the ki control syndrome and risk of killing himself is hilariously underwhelming in Dragon Ball. It's just not enough to persuade him from using the move when you've got multiple options for a Reset Button to clean up the consequences.
So any fight he doesn't use it is going to feel like he's holding back. Any fight that he does is just going to raise power escalation further.
I am not fond of the manga's explanation for Vegeta's performance because it's awkward as fuck, but I do prefer them giving Hit a limitation that doesn't require Goku to power up even further.
I believe PMC said that Kaio-ken x2 would be ideal, and I'd certainly be happier with that. Doubling his power is still huge, but it's at the level where the drawbacks could potentially outweigh the benefits if it craps out mid fight. But with x10, it's too much worth attempting because SSB is completely useless against any enemy that necessitates a x10 power increase.
I also don't like how Kaio-ken x10 on top of Goku requires the gap between Beerus to be opened up even further. I liked Goku being around the 6-7 to Beerus' 10 as per the original numbers, not this new direction where even with SSB or SSG Goku seems to be far inferior to him. It just seems really unnecessary and means we'll probably never see them fight alongside each other, which I would have really liked to see.

So...is there some DB Super novel written by that great bird man?
Or Toriyama...as you called him.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.
