And you all are going about it wrong, as the kanji literally translates to "5 sky black". Which means it is more likely about a group rather than an individual. Direct your gripes with black caricatures at Mr. Popo.
But no, you can't even do that because I provided irrefutable evidence on the last page that Japan love black people...okay they still haven't pushed Shelton Benjamin in NJPW or NOAH...that Japan likes some black people.
Buldogue's lawyerThe idea of a Black Goku not existing is an idea that also should not be existing.
Not traditionally Dark, but actually Black.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. They could just call him Evil Goku.
I mean, that's literally what he's supposed to be.
Also, I kinda feel sorry for Vegeta.
He's finally getting the fight against Goku he's always really wanted on some level...
...and he's not actually doing the fighting.
One Strip! One Strip!Well, Black Goku may not actually be evil.
I'm also setting my bets on changing the name to "Dark Goku" when it gets dubbed.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!I'm thinking more on the lines of Shadow Goku or Darkness Goku.
Speaking of today's episode, watching Hail Zeon's review of the episode got me thinking about it considering how much effective (or lack thereof) Gotenks was, but I now have a newfound appreciation for the Garlic Junior saga.
While it was filler in Dragonball Z, it at least let the other characters be in the spotlight as Goku was still in space. With just about everyone being infected by the mist, it was up to Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, hell, even Kami and Popo to save the day and they succeeded. It wasn't just be cannon fodder and wait for Goku. It allowed other characters to save the day.
Don't get me wrong, Goku is one of my favorite characters, but this is starting to become "GT" again given how once again it's Goku coming in to save the day. You'd think that Goten and Trunks, as much as I still don't like that they're still kids, would do more within this mini arc, but no, it's "GT guest starring Vegeta." This arc could've been a chance to see someone other than Goku and Vegeta fight and actually win instead of being glorified jobbers. Aw well... At least we got a cool backstory for the so-called water.

I have a feeling that Goten and Trunks MIGHT play a role in sealing up/defeating the water next episode. Otherwise, I don't even know what the point of them being there is for, even as spectators.
The thing about the Garlic Junior stuff is that they couldn't bring in Goku to save the day because they literally HAD NO CHOICE. Judging by stuff in the manga, they knew Goku wasn't going to show up until Future Trunks arrived. And...on Kanzenshuu a while ago, I read that the time the series had smallest gap behind the manga was just during the final fight with Freeza. I think at that point they realised they had a MAJOR issue with possibly overtaking the manga, so they had to shove in a filler arc as soon as they possibly could. And there was a timeskip, so it could make sense.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Keep in mind, Black doesn't have the same connotations in the rest of the world as it does in the English speaking countries.
Racism is racism, yeah, but not all countries have the same history with it as the USA does.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariJust putting the word Black in front of something isn't even racist...if anything, it might possibly set off some real sensitive folk.

Now is not the time to get philosophical, we can figure something out later.
That's still sort of weird to me...but I understand why it happens.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. You're talking to me, I live in Argentina and trust me, the PC madness is completely alien to me. After all, we discriminate based on social class, not race.
No, really, the main point of discrimination in Argentina is social class.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariThe Goku focus is a little grating. I kind of miss the days when he got pummeled and spent most of the arc resting up.
Perhaps not, still.
"Dark Schnieder"
"Officer Black"
These names work.
"Black Goku"
So he's Goku... but he has the surname "Black". "Goku Burakku". So he's Goku Black. Goku five-star black. Goku of the black? What does that mean? Even ignoring possible racist connotations, ignoring the possible mistranslation, that is the strangest name you could pick for a villain short of a random usertag from an online video game.
Even "Dark Goku" sounds weird. In the future Trunks encounters an enemy who calls himself "Dark Goku."
"I am the warrior you've heard of in legends, pure of heart and awakened by fury, that's what I am. I am the SUPER SAIYAN, DARK GOKU!"
That name doesn't work in any conversation.
I am genuinely curious what possible explanation Toriyama could have for taking Goku's name and putting 'black/dark' in front of it. Ah, evil Goku. Why not just call himself "Goku", or go nameless. He's arrogant enough to change his name to "Dark Goku"? There has to be a trope for when villains just put "black" or "X" behind their name to sound more evil.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Dark Is Evil. Edit:I mean that is the trope.
And Straight Outta Compton is the solution.
