So...browsing through This Very Wiki, was there any other famous Super Mode before Dragon Ball did it? I thought maybe Gundam would have, but it looks like they only introduced that idea after Super Saiyan was a thing.
I mean, I know Dragon Ball was famous for it, but I didn't realise it was actually THAT innovative in 1991.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!I've just seen episode 23 of Dragon Ball Super and Now that it seems Gohan's involvement in the Resurrection F arc is over I must say everything more less went like I expected when Gohan confronted Shisami. I didn't expect Gohan to feel as helpless as he was during the start of the saiyan arc but if it's the starting point of a character arc for him I'm all for it. Granted it's the same arc he should have completed back in the Buu Saga but he got the most character focus for the better part of 7 or 8 episodes for better or for worse. Besides damaging his body while powering up provides a powerful contrast with Goku's and Vegeta's training. What happened to Gohan is what happens when you try to use your power without control.
All in all this episode is not bad at all. Nothing much happened but then again it didn't drag either.

The Korean scanlation for the next chapter of the manga's out: Champa's team consists of a big yellow bear, a robot that looks like Gato's meaner cousin, a guy who looks like the product of a fusion dance between Piccolo and Nemesis, a short guy/kid who looks like Tarble, and finally...a Frieza-type alien.
Meanwhile the final member of Beerus's team is a red midget.
My Megaman and MegaTen RPG LiveblogsThat's Toriyama for you alright. Make the characters looks as silly as possible.
The robot reminds me of Robo from Chrono Trigger, a game designed by Toriyama.

My prediction is that Goku fights the bear, though I'd rather see Buu. Vegeta fights the Freeza, Piccolo fight the saiyan, the robot fights Buu and the weird guy fight the weird guy. Now let's see how wrong I end up being.
Speaking of super modes, I hope some of the new fighters have transformations. As for old characters with Super Modes? Transformers power masters go back at least to 1988, three years before super saiyan.
Buldogue's lawyerRemember that, technically, Oozaru was the first Super Mode in Dragon Ball, though if we're counting that then we also have to count werewolf...
Something certainly did come before but Dragon Ball is easily the Trope Codifier.

The wolf form was the default and the human form was not stronger so it wasn't a Super Mode.
Plus Videl is already rich.
Which makes the fact that Chi-Chi spent all the money when Videl couldn't have possibly needed it even more frustrating.
One Strip! One Strip!

They didn't. They just went off on a tangent because I asked what this
was.
