I should point out that Toriyama originally planned for Goku and Vegeta to do the dance, until the Fusion Reborn writers beat him to it, so height may not be as much as an issue as he said.
The man Retcons and forgets his own plot points all the time, so something minor like that might have been abandoned.
One Strip! One Strip!"About" is the key word here. "About" the same height. A few inches here or there probably isn't enough of a difference.
Like, Goten absolutely could not perform the Fusion Dance with Piccolo, but Goku and Piccolo probably could. Goku and Vegeta clearly can. Vegeta and Piccolo, maybe.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I thought Multiform was Tenshinhan's thing? I bet he could fuse with himself, becoming stronger in the process.
As a side-note, I just remembered that, after Gohan was absorbed by Buu, Goku said he'd fuse with Tenshinhan if only he weren't unconscious/dead. That's a potentially neat what-if that not even the videogames explore, we got SSJ 4 Broly before a Tiengoku.

Isn't it interesting that the more unique attacks in this series are always the worst?
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Or because once you become powerful enough, there's no amount of technique that can keep up with it.
Or, once you are strong enough, you can better capitalize on the flaws of certain techniques.
One Strip! One Strip! The more unique attacks aren't always the worst. Body change kicks butt, absorption kicks butt, solar flare works until targets learn to sense energy or they can find sunglasses. Four arms attack was only countered by eight arms attack. Even Vegeta admits stone spit is something to worry about. Freezing people in place with your mind has worked several times. Super ghost kamakaze attack tended to be very successful.
Multiform actually should have several tactical uses(scouting, deception, communication). Direct assault just isn't one of them.

The Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack only worked because Super Boo was an idiot then. Vegetto specifically points out how worthless it is as he casually ki blasts all of Boo's ghosts.
Not really. How many times do instances for such things come up in Dragon Ball?

Speaking of Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack... You know what I like about Gotenks? He's not just a little kid, he's an imaginative little kid. He's basically going, "Well, I brought my DINOSAUR, who EATS force fields!" whenever he comes up with a technique; just finding unconventional uses for his toys. Which is, in this case, his power, but still.

Would he have known if they were destroyed? Because we know Gero could have massacred any of them with ease.
I mean, it's not a bad idea, but it's no good if Gero just kills a clone before it can relay his position.
One Strip! One Strip!@Zelenal
That's Vegetto doing that, though. Vegetto managed to No-Sell being turned into candy. So, yeah, if he says it's worthless? It's probably an amazing technique, it's just that to him it looks worthless because he's just that good. And even he screws around and creates pointless techniques on the fly, when it'd be much simpler to just end the fight with an Instant Final Flash in less time than it takes Buu to blink, because he could've done that all along.
'Relaying its position' is just a flare of Ki... or a sudden drop. They'd zero in on Gero nearly instantly because they'd all be on high alert.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariThat's a good point.
Most useless techniques in the series are useless by virtue of being used against characters so strong that no amount of tricks do any good, since in Dragon Ball Z, Weak, but Skilled is not a thing unless the skill is very gamebreakinig, like powerful regeneration, time freezing, or body switching.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Just because it's Vegetto doing it doesn't mean anything in this case. The ghosts are destroyed when then come into contact with any physical matter so even Yamcha's ki blasts could destroy them. Hell, Mr. Satan could destroy them with his gun. Even Super Boo was prepared to counter the technique the second time until the ghosts drew him in because he's an idiot. They do a massive amount of damage but they're really easy to both avoid and destroy.
As for Vegetto's moves, he only has the Spirit Sword, the Banshee Blast (which is just a fancy ki blast, really), and the Big Bang Kamehameha. Other than those, he doesn't come up with any fancy attacks. Besides, he was purposefully trying to get Boo to absorb him so that way he could free the others (why he decided to do that is anyone's geuss).
Multiform is useless because your power is split evenly between them and we're not dealing with Naruto BS. The Kienzan is useless because it's really slow and noisy. SGKA is useless because the ghosts are easy to destroy and avoid if you're not an idiot. All techniques states to be useless are only called such because they are regardless of what enemy you're fighting. In the case of Multiform, it's actually a hindrance since the drop in your battle power just may allow an opponent to easily win.

I hear what you are saying, but I think there will always be a part of me that will always believe that it's not the techniques that are the problem, but the people they are being used against.
I suppose I'm just being—please forgive me for using this term—salty about the whole thing.
....Fuck I hate the term salty. It's dumb. Someone kick my ass if I ever say it again.
One Strip! One Strip!

I think an inch difference could be more significant for Goten considering he doesn't have that many inches to begin with.
