The "Goku: Father of the Year" jokes only really spiked after Abridged from what I've seen.
How to tell if a Dragon Ball fanwork is bad in an instant: it randomly quotes Abridged.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerJust watched it.
Looks like Tagoma is making up for his early death in the movie, or at least, he will be until he gets hijacked by Ginyu.
Also Super Saiyan headbutt to the crotch. Stay classy Ginyu.
As for the part with Krillin, I guess years of being outmatched and getting his ass kicked made him forget he's actually pretty powerful in his own right. Kinda funny really.

One Strip! One Strip!Found this while looking for reactions on the latest episode, and I think this is a good analysis:
"With this episode I just realised that Dragon Ball Super has given Krillin an arc. One that wasn’t in the movies and fits with his character progression. From staying out of the Beerus fight to asking Goku to punch him to becoming a cop to deciding to fight Freiza specifically as a way of coming to terms with his death and then this episode.
It does a really good job of illustrating that even though he’s nowhere near the strongest fighter he’s still come really far from where he once was and he’s still capable of being useful. Despite how weak he may see himself as he’s still nothing to sneeze at.
And the emphasis that Super has put on his family life showing how good they are together, how much they support him really ties it together by showing how much he’s matured into a responsible parent and generally has his life together.
Hell there’s even a dash of meta to it because it ties into fans’ perception of him and the other human fighters as pointless because they’re not god-tier or whatever but this shows why that just isn’t important.
I’m really impressed by this it feels like one of the best things Super has added to the series so far."

You know, I'm starting to realize that I'm getting less annoyed with how Gohan is being treated and more annoyed at how fans seem to be taking delight in it for some reason :/
"Lol Gohanfags on suicude watch"
"Lol, he's worse than Yamcha now"
"GOHAN WAS A MISTAKE"
Its honestly as bad as the "Goku is a terrible father" jokes. They stopped being funny a long time ago.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. He'll probably Zenkai anyway.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI don't really care for the Yamcha jokes either.
I think it's all born out of the same thing: people got tired of certain fans pushing certain issues and talking up certain characters (Tien is awesome, Yamcha and the humans should do more, Gohan should have been the lead) has lead to a backlash where those sick of them now go in the opposite direction and try their hardest to beat them down.
Hell, in the case of Gohan, the plot is supporting them, which makes them more rabid, but I feel there's a bit of He Who Fights Monsters to the whole thing.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()

I mean, I get that but then it just generalizes the people who actually genuinely like those characters.
Like, let's say you like Tien but don't go into "ZOMG HE NEEDS TO DO MORE" crowd like everyone else does. Well that doesn't matter because you'll be lumped in with those obnoxious assholes anyway just because you like Tien.
Its like...why do we have to take the piss out of a character's suffering? If they deserve it sure, but I don't believe "Fans of the character are obnoxious" is good reasoning :V

Man, where were you in the mid 2000's when everybody was on the Vegeta train "Yo, Vegeta should have beaten Goku" "Vegeta is the GOAT" etc etc. Fortunately, I learned to tune it out and go about my business.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I wonder how many people tossed spoilers around the internet during the Toonami run; if people were discussing the Cell and Buu sagas while most fans were asking if they were still on Namek.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerWith all the crap Gohan's getting lately, I'm starting to wonder if this is actually Alternate Reality DBZ Resurrection F or Alternate Reality Dragon Ball Super.

Also, I notice most of that "Goku is terrible" things revolve around him supposedly never being around but him not being around usually has a good reason behind it. He's there when the story allows it.
I'm not saying the guy is father or husband of the year but for the most part those accusations seem sort of unfounded.
Is the subject of family touchy for you?
